Thought I give Boz some company at Liptons today. Little did I know that he was doing some R&D on his board to see if this flappy deck thing on the Windtech's actually work. I let him explain!!! Wind was quite  marginal when I decided to finally go out, but after yesterday was reluctant to go too big. So started on the 6.4. Quite cruisy fro most of the session. Filled in more late in the arvo but nothing too special. All in all a good session excpet for an anonymous stingray.

Today was all about taking some of Neils concepts with the windtech and improving on the flexi tail concept. Start of with finding a large stingray pick up enough speed so that when you hit it you get thrown over the handle bars, this gives the board  slightly more rocker when it creases the board, remember to hit it straight on as you want the crease at the top of the deck.

After sailing the board with the new rocker line from point grey it didn't seem there was enough flex, stage two find the point greys stingrays cousin at the lipton corner not the small one the bloody large one, make sure you pick up speed and ready for the slingshot. As you sligshot and pick up an extra knot or two progress to hit this one. Now you have a crease on the top of the board with a bit of flex no differant to Neils boards just a lot better as the flex starts from the centre of the board. Further tuning was done with the point grey stingray with a slight adjustment to the angle of the fin by clipping the bloody thing again.

Who needs to be a board designer when you have all the stingrays at hand in Mandurah to give your board that special flexFrown Apart from being a board designer it was fun sailing with Flatchat only two of us out for the arvo

Oh dear, Boz, and that is nothing compared to the stories the stingrays will be telling around the dinner table tonight. Poor things... if they made it back to the dinner table.

Do you have any unhinged boards left? It looks like the skin must be tough anyway, to sail another 140 odd km after that.

I’ve never seen a board crease from a fin impact like that. Quite unusual but we are talking about boz the destroyer here.

Kenny the manta with a bit of duct tape will be okay for a day or two, the Ray well don’t know wasn’t looking to flash swam away to the delight of the crabbers, but had a gash from the fin the length of its head so not sure, fangy thanks for the offer but I think even if the manta was in two pieces it still be faster than the missy😁

That is bad. I'd reckon I would go two layers of duct tape on that one just to be sure.

Great writeup Boz.. LaughingYou'd be a bit paranoid re rays now wouldn''t you? Surprised

I've found your problem.. Stop riding Mantas..it's probably breeding season and you're attracting the rays..Wink
