Drove to Coal but it was 17-29kts ( by LMYC meter) with a big dead spot out the front. I needed the small gear for the strong wind but it would have been dodgy getting out with the dead patch..Unenthused, I drove to Marmong , too offshore got to Valentine and 10-20kts. I was feeling whoosy so this is more like it!
Back into the winter wettie which was a good idea.
Rigged small for an easy session with a weedy to settle the board. By the time I'd finished gasbagging and rigging it had kicked in to 18 -20kts . I wouldn't have wanted any more sail! Not so much the sail being overpowering but the blasted board being so fast in the chop! I need to be younger , fitter or have a slower board.. Actually I enjoyed the speed at times today and the 2 sec is pretty good for me going over the back of chop.
The 5 x 10 is a location best too.
Going out was pretty good .you could blast along the swells and avoid the peaks . Some pretty average gybes in the chop but I also got some dry ones.
I was stoked to get a nice planing one on the shore. Stuffed up the speed by being unco getting back together on the exit - took a while to get the harness and straps at speed in the chop.
Jeff and Glen were going further over apparently it flattens out a little to help gybing. I tried it once but the wind was dying so I gybed and fell in and took a while to get going again. I tried to uphaul but couldn't in the 2-3ft chop. I finally got a puff. Might have to go raf sails as I hate it when the cams are popped the wrong way and i have to use my foot to pop them so I can waterstart.
Got the 2 sec on the last run.
Jeff and Glen & I then later Hugh , john and some guy from the surf having a wow of a time.
