Man was it windy. Chris D, Leon & I set out early. Weather stations calling some 40kts gusts as we headed down. The Coorong was absolutely frothing.

At LG, the water had pushed out, with a weed hurdle tufting out in a big line parallel to the spit. Chris D lent me his 21cm weed speed, I downhauled my 5.2 Hellcat hard and plugged it into the Falcon 79l.  I passed Pete and Stash as they came in, and heard it was hardcore. Surprisingly the boganverse was very well represented with even Tricky making the long haul.

I had huge trouble getting through the bed, but most did. Although later I'd see Stash and Tricky punch through, using very raked fins.

Eventually launching, I did a few runs, but in the gusts kept getting lifted...very loose and hardly controlled. I burnt out quickly fighting it so much, and headed back, to find Chris had smashed his fin, so we quickly got his 21 out of my board and into his. I was done for the day anyway.

Stash, Pete, Tricky and Chris D all were sailing strong. You'd see these coloured specks in the distance, but even from that far, it was obviouis they were honking. Looks like you cleaned up Stash, well done! In fact much respect to all the sailors there today, that was some extreme sailing.

Isonic49 5.2 19Speed Demon Chanallanging day today. Early Start then First 3  Runs 38, 39, 40 Its going to be a cracker dayLaughing

Then the wind backed off a smidge & the gusts seemed to lack grunt to get over the weed drag. The bigest challange was navagating the weed burgs when the sun was out you couldnt see for the reflection till you were 10 m away then when it was cloudy it was all too dark to tell. The fin came lose & the 2mm gap was causing spin outs so made the struggle back in to tighten it up. Headded back out but was stuck in the 38's peaks so called it quits early so I could make the trip home. All in all a Bunta Bogan BashTongue outCool

Great to meet team mates Shane & LeonWink

Well done guys and nice PBs, same thing happen a few years ago, winter front 40+ knots wind blew the water out and the weed just killed it,  it was a struggle getting through. Doing 150km/103 in that super effort Stash and Tricky

Yeah, good weekend but real pity Pete got injuried just as we were beginning to warm up. He definitely would have smashed his PB.

I definitely prefer sailing with others too despite clocking 150km in what was pretty much around 30kts for most of the day. Hard work with a 5.6 and could only do it after changing to a 5.0 - need to go to the gym!

Going over 40 was great, loved it!!! Only lasted a few seconds but want more, more more!!!

Love speed - love weed!!!Coolhaha

Cheers for all the comments, gents, really appreciate it.
