Lombok (6162km): ![]() Sailed Boombas using JP77L Wave Freeride/Blue 54+Ezzy 6.4 Zeta Wave+FF20 Plenty of crew on the water enjoying the breeze today | ||||||||||||||||||
Decrepit (55824km): ![]() Wow, we did that exactly right for a change, looked like a good Boombas distance session from the forecast. Sunny all morning, with fairly steady wind, slowly increasing. I tuned for distance, used the new 55cm board, 6.2 koncept, with 21cm@55deg deltoid. Vic, Fangy and I hit the water just as it started to pick up. I was after 105km to claim the top spot for the over 75s. Had 85KM by what's normaly my lunch time. I was getting tired, hands getting sore, and a tad peckish. I had a bit of a talk with Lunny and Woody. (not such pesky Pinnas). Decided the arvo wasn't to be trusted, I didn't like the looks of the clouds on their way from the NW. So managed the 105 and called it quits. The rain was then nice to us, and didn't start until I started the car to drive away. When I got back here, the wind was almost zero and what there was came from the WSW. Really glad I wasn't deep into boombas when that happened.

fangy (22943km): ![]() Boombas with The (boom breaking) Machine and shortly afterwards, still wiping the breakfast crumbs from his face, Cap’n Calm himself. Blue skies, a warmish NNW and a perfect tide rounded out what appeared to be a good day on the paddocks. That ended pretty quickly with the arrival of some Peskys in the form of Lunny and Woody. Thankfully, Flatchat was busy at the Salon getting his K-Pop haircut refined after things went a bit feral during Covid iso, and as a result there was enough space at Boombas to safely socially distance from the Pesky presence. Waricle turned up later to have a gasbag and rig stuff, but didn’t seriously threaten getting wet at anytime during the day.
Having been caught on the westerly change at Boombas on previous visits, I went with a cautious Barge II and FF24, Koncept 7.0 combo. My first run down to the reef had my thinking I could get away with a smaller board. I went for a quick reconnoitre over to the eastern shore and all was looking good for the smaller Missy Flow. I headed back, but then kept getting distracted by sweet little gusts and patches of nice water to play on. The end result was I never got back to change boards and instead, had a ball just charging around on the Barge II, never really fully powered up, but very comfy and happily skewering a berg or two in the process.
An excellent morning sesh, good to have a chin wag with Mark and Lunny and Top Ten Old Fart Fangy kudos to Cap’n Calm who attempted to sail more km’s than his age. (He fell way short but it was still an impressive effort.)
