1277 days ago Well that almost could not get much better! The rain clouds stayed to either side of us and the storm hung out over sea to the North East until it was time to come in. Completely unexpected improvement to conditions. Wind was forecast to drop off in the early afternoon, but did the opposite and increased to 18kn+ at around 1pm, just as Glynn arrived on the water to do some flat water speed runs. Quite enjoyed the great rolling waves out back (Helm's Deep), and as the tide headed to the low mark, some good flat water runs. Mind you, the choppy bits out far soon turned up close in so hung on..
Dave was first out around 10am, followed by Nick and myself at 11am, then Trevor B (who changed down from his 5.8 to a 5.0) and then the King of Flatwater himself, the ever blue lime Glynn the Boombuster on a 7.0. We were fortunate to get this today as once the storm came through at 2pm, conditions deteoriated. Suffered a wipeout on a double height rouge wave near the lead markers, and had to consider retiring early due to injury. Though, smashed a 20knot + U-Turn on the flat stuff!
