1495 days ago It might be haloween in the USA tonight, but it was howling at Wello today.. NNE read 14 - 16 knots earlier around 10am, though wind just kept getting stronger. Gusts reached 24knots plus by 1pm. 'Rough as' on the full tide, and didn't really level out much. Nick changed down twice: from a 7.5NCX to a 6.5NCX and finally to a 5.5NCX. Five lads: Chris, Jayson, John, Ian and Scotty came over from Lota/Manly, and hung around for the sandbank to emerge for some speed runs, crackin speeds up ~37knots! John spurred me on to have a few runs down the sandbank. It paid off as I finally cracked the 30knot barrier! It would've been worthwhile to hang around and do a few more speed runs down the bank, but the kiters were out jumping and I'd suffered a left ankle twist and ligament strain on one of my earlier gybes. So with a brusied right thigh from Tuesday, and a strained left ankle from today, decided to call it quits to no further injuries today.. Storm passed through around 2pm, but the Northerlies held in thereafter. A good sail.

1494 days ago Yep should have rigged the 6m well out of shape the first few runs but have had a decent blow in a long while, pretty stocked with a PB and at Wello! Tried another run at Lota before the storms but still too much water so decided to call it. Unexpected big blow with RQYC meter well over 35 most the arvo, plenty of happy sailors out there today!
