I thought today l should do a bit better but as usuall do my better times when its a bit less windy..or perhaps a smaller sail would have been faster..l used the 7m. .still good fun with paul Bruce ..

Lyds (10267km): Belmont Bay (Slipways), NSW, AU Foil Evo, 5.8 - started out nice went down to meet up with Byron while Andy was having lunch.Crazy upwind totally overpowered in big waves it wasn't pleasant. For some it would be fun, but my poor old broken body got hammered. The only bunus was Byron the slapper couldn't catch me
Bostonfoil (17127km): Valentine/Marmong, NSW SB Slalom config foil / JP 135 SS7.0 Really nice session on my lonesome in 12-18 kts easterly. Split my time between Marmong and Valo. First time Marmong has been good in ages. Hitting 25kts on a reach more often than not with only one minor "off" all day. A reach may not be quite as fast as the ol "slingshot" into a deep run but its sure as hell safer! And im sick of making a mess of my gear!
Bruce Healey (24403km): Gosford, NSW, AU Should have gone slapping.
Byron Mcilveen (64562km): Bonnells Bay, NSW, AU Falcon 90, S2 venom 7, select v max 31 Worked all the way up the lake from shingles to belmont on the little 90 bloody hard work it doesnt point well. Great on the gas run down wind untill i got to the island and wind backed off big time was on track for 27 hr in the end was so light it took me 1hr to get back up wind 500m yes should have stoped at shingles not kept going down into bonnles bay. Andy sailed all the way home and got back around the same time.was nice to have company. Crazy sore have not done an hr for years let alone a big sa Il like that.
Andrew Haigh (50494km): Coal Point, NSW, AU. NE 15-25 Stingray, 550.75.255 - Couldn't control it, then 550,95,255 super scarey in the strong wind, then most of session on 800,95,255, all with 5.5m Fantastic super strong (for foiling) NE. On the limit for me, came off too many times to count. Followed Byron on his 1 hour run from Belomont to Shingles and then deep into Bonnells bay. it looked like a long way back to coalie, I couldn't even see Pulbah Island, the first section back to Shingles was worringly slow, but then once in open water things got much quicker. Got back to Coalie and I had done 92 K, so had to go back out to bring up the 100. Byron was looking good most of the way down, but was struggling for wind near the end. I don't know how he managed to sail a 90 litre board all the way up to Belmont to start the run.
sboardcrazy (25251km): 13-18kts then 18-23kts plus NE Peely Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU level 0.20 7m OD - WT57 ( 90ltres) - 21.5cm FF ( cutdown 24) then 6.6mKA Koncept- 80 iso - 21.5FF Best NE so far this season..no flatwater 10-15cm bumps/ rollers Got my 430rdm yesterday and changed the 7m to rdm so I had to use it even if the wind was already getting to the top of the gears range with me..A much nicer feel and looks deeper? I might have to remove the spacer at the boom cam but I'll see how it is afer a few sails. Pretty good when I first got out but I wasn't getting upwind as well as I would like to so I didn't do many bearaways and just practised gybes..I'm going ok . The best one was out in the choppier part but must have been 80m plus wide.. I usually work upwind, go slightly off the wind for 100m and gybe so no decent alphas.. I'll have to start planning more.. I need some more time to learn the sweet spot to get the best upwind out of the WT. I know it can rip upwind so it's me..I've only used it for 3 x for "speed" sailing . I don't use the OD much either so I need to get used to it. I wanted to keep sailing for an hr but forgot when I started.. I think I did more than an hr without stopping but with the short runs and pinching upwind for most of it I knew it wouldn't be much good.. I got a WT57 board PB of 29.99kts..It will be interesting to see what I can get in smooth water. as that was in 10-15cm bumps. It was getting pretty powered with the 7m - a bit much to try gybing so I came in and rigged the 6.6m and the smaller board to try for some speed.. The wind had kicked in another notch and the iso was easy to get upwind and gybe..It was also easy to hit 30kts plus.. I suppose after 3 years of practise I'll probably find the same with the WT.. I didn't try many gybes on the choppy side ( the bleedn sail wasn't rotating properly grr). Downhaul is SO critical with that sail.. I thought it was ok on the shore.. For once I got some nicely powerd bearaways . pity there was no smooth.. too rough for a flyweight to get much speed. The 2 sec is a PB for this year in a NE at Peely. Tried for a nm and actually had wind for most of it for once..Good wind pretty consistent and the strong gusts were strong . I'm great getting upwind overpowered and slogging but I need to learn how to get upwind when moderately powered . I had some algae in my camelback tube so a few months ago I cleaned it with a wash of Bicarb and salt.. The water tasted horrible today. i must have been drinking the residue at the bottom Time to give it a good rinse out I think.. Plenty out .
