Byron Mcilveen (64447km): Lake George, SA, AU S2 venom 5.7, ca44 speed board vector 48 deg 21 1hr mission havnt tried for a long time started unreal 30.3 at the 15 to 20 min mark but then went down wind and to bumpy midle of lake then picked up speed at bottom in flat would have been way better doing it down the bottom I was cranking across the wind down there.was hoping for close to 30 but still happy concidering what i have been thru in the last few years sore as hell now. Happy days but great sailing all over lake.
sboardcrazy (25135km): 5 mile Lake George, SA, AU 4.6m KA Koncept - 50ltre iso-18cm FF ( cutdown 20) After 2 massive days of driving and bugger all sleep I get to Beachport and Daffy says it's blowing get out there! You've got to be kidding? I got there late and I didn't really want to go out as it looked pretty full on .Some of the 90kg guys had 5.6m on..I've lost weight and only weigh 60kgs.. Stuffed around for ages rigging and decided if I don't like it I'll do one run and come back in..My ribs still aren't 100%.After getting injured and having to go home after the first week last time the priorities this trip are 1- stay uninjured 2- have fun! 3- try and improve my sailing ( especially that b elusive alpha..) I should have gone out earlier! I would have been better on the 5m to get better speed. The 4.6m was good in the strong stuff but a bit underdone in the rest. I haven't used the 50ltre or 18FF for 2 years but it was a snack.. Nothing like strong pretty consistent wind to make using small gear easy. I played it safe and didn't try any gybes and was surprised I had enough energy! It was easy sailing compared to the chop off Coal Pt. Not really any super flatwater. the bit in front of 3 mile had promise but wasn't getting much decent wind. Chop in the middle was probably 30cm but rolling. The best wind was in the middle and I had heaps of power but it was 20-30cm scalloped rolling chop and too big for me. I just bounced over the top and was lucky to get 29kts. Some good wind and it was slightly flatter heading into the rock garden . I did a few fun bearaways there although with clenched teeth as I had no idea how shallow it was and I was heading straight into the shore. Looking forward to exploring the lake and finding out where it's shallow , flatter etc.. Only a short one. The wind started to get a bit patchy for the small board and my ribs were starting to hurt so I called it quits.. My stance was pretty average and I felt like I was hanging like a sack of spuds at times but it was great fun and a good confidence boost. ZZZZZZZZZZZ Neil(?) who had a crappy day cracking the front of one board then breaking a boom waaay down the bottom near the spit, Carl and me at 5 mile , Glynn , Shane and John? at 3 mile and lots at Cockies..Byron and Greg , Daffy etc
