Pelican Point, WA

A very brief session at Peli in pretty up & down conditions. Got there a little late and only snuck in about 4 runs. Better than nothing so not complaining. On the WindTech CM with 7.0 Loft RB and 24 Stealth fin.

There was a mixed flock of Pinnaroo and Mandurah Mob sailors in the chook pond today. The expected strong winds did not eventuate, but otherwise the conditions were pleasant, a bit of sun, not much rain, and not too cold.

s with most others I rigged too small for the conditions - I rigged for the gusts - which did not eventuate, but the gear ended up being about right for my level of unfitness. It was good to catch up with a big posse of Pinnaroos, and we should have improved our numbers in a few categories at least.  Woody got lucky when he had to rig bigger than he wanted because some piece of gear was missing, and I think he would have been happy with that, ending up with speed of the day, I expect. Flex looked like he was trying for a distance PB - I think he would have been first on the water and he was definitely the last - he was still sailing back and forth when I left, and looked like he would keep going until dark or the wind cut out, whichever happened first. Should be 100+ km I expect. Great effort Flex! I hope someone backed up your distance so you can get a well deserved km jellybean.

Thanks for the team support everyone!

Coodanup, WA, AU. Arrived with Boz and Woody already rigging, Antman arrived shortly afterwards.   Decided to go with the small board, small sail and the small FF in anticipation.  Hadn't been on this combo so took a bit of fiddling at the start.  Was ok but certainly well inside the comfort zone.  Lots of Pinaroos, Decrepit and Waricle plus 2 faces I didn't recognise.  Around 50km mark I looked back and saw Antman, figured I had plenty of room to gybe but just as starting I lost sight of him so decided to bail.  Weird, front foot strap had a screw pulled...headed back to the van...instead of repairing and the chance of it happening again took the big board.  Seriously contemplated using the opportunity to go bigger sail but chickened out figuring it was still coming in. Of course in hindsight should have changed up.   Headed back but the wind was dropping.  Still could keep going most of the time but a lot of sailors were standing around waiting.  Everyone but Canonball and I headed back to the car park but we kept at it a few more runs until the wind died completely.  After crossing back over, the wind was better and did a few runs fairly close to the car as was close to 100..then a lull came along so decided to call it quits.   104 RRD Freeride, 5.7 RRD Move, 22FF then 120 Tabou Rocket with 33 TWS

Fun with a big crowd for the pond, great to see the mobsters and a gaggle of Pinnas, even our captain making a visit to the pond. Wind didn't boot in as expected, rigged when it was building so the 5.5 was the right choice apart from the fact that the wind decided to decrease and not increase as forcasted. Still great toget wet.

Well done team, on a great turn out and some good numbers for the moderate winds on offer. Just shows what a difference a bit of flat water makes!

Improved our numbers for 2 sec, 5X, alpha and distance, a big improvement on where we started the day. WE moved up 4 places for 2 sec, 3 for 5X, 2 for alpha and 3 for distance. We moved down one place for the hour, so over all, a jump of 11 points. Great work!

Big congratulations to Flex for his big distance effort today, and thanks to Boz for a good effort to back that up (especially considering your lack of sailing fitness) and to Woody, top speed of the day- so close to a 38! Well done mate!

Not much splitting the 3 amigos on the alphas.., and only a whisker between Boz and Woody on the 5X.

CF, that's not how it works, you got out, you did your best, the conditions weren't great for you is all.

You did not bring down the average, your brought up the number of sailors posting - still think there should be points for that.

From my position on the sofa with my leg up I am impressed by everyone's performances at the Nature Reserve....fantastic efforts all round. Particularly well done Windxtasy for a 30knt and Flex for his distance.  The fast, young, sailors (!!) Woody Mark, Boz and Antman, you did very well with moderate breezes and managed to uphold the Team's prestige in the league table.  All in all a great day out for everyone concerned and it's good to see the local Mandurah Mob being so continually accommodating of the invasions from Perth....Wink

Got round to editing the footage of the days action.  Like everyone I was expecting more so was fairly conservative on filming at the start.  However, was plenty enough footage to make editing a brutal job.    Once I realised wind was dying off I started taking lots more so I have literally an hour or more of Canonball and I cruising at sunset, nice but not very exciting viewing.   Wore two Gopro's with the 360 on top of helmet and the Hero5 on side.  This was a mistake as the side camera was in the 360's field of view and in the zone of stiching so it looks weird.  Next time hope to have the 360 on a pole.

Waricle and Windxtasy had quite similar sails and the cap captain normally wears was absent so was hard to tell apart.  I'm pretty sure I labelled them correctly with Waricle the orange tipped sail and Windxtasy the red tip.   If I'm wrong, sorry.   Slugger and Stretch had what looked like the same sail so could not tell them apart and since I haven't met you guys have no clue which is which.  ..sorry.   This is for you Reg (not sure if you were hiding in the bird hide there all day)    https://youtu.be/9W1rfeF_YBU

Greta video Stretch.  Those conditions were staggeringly good just not enough wind....however, if there was a fair bit more it'd be outrageos.  I've never seen such flat water, it's beautiful.  And I liked the bits where other sailors were chasing you.  Anita looked quick in one section.  Good stuff, now I'm really pissed off because flea weight me would have done way over 40 knots in those conditions (ha ha).

Another interesting video, Flex, well edited as usual, but some of the shots labelled Windxtasy are actually Waricle. I was wearing a magenta coloured top over my wetsuit. No matter, we know who we are.

Sorry boss, really struggled to tell you guys apart. Since Waricle came over at my gear failure point I thought I had worked out sail colours based on basic times but obviously not.  Can't see much magenta but then again I'm half blind.   Hopefully there was some ok shots of you.  Edit: for historic purposes you can let me know who is who at what timestamp and I can re edit and repost as only takes a few seconds..same goes with Slugger and Stretch if they care

I think our sails would be identical except he was using a 5.4 and I had a 5.

I am not offended at being mistaken for Waricle because he is a much better sailor than I am and has a much better stance, so he makes me look good!

It was too hard to change the names as I offloaded all the raw files to free up space on my laptop..  So I blanked your name out on that bit and added a comment in the description.  Hope is enough.

Flex, In 2003 I sat at the same table as Quentin Tarantino (with 12 others) and he often had similar production problems I understand, so.........Cool

Great video Flex Cool I couldn't tell who was who in the vid either, but I can tell you I was wearing a blue helmet. You were going great, impressive clocking up nearly 100km in the pond! Hope to meet you next time Smile
