Point Grey, WA, AU   Saw the wind get to 13 knots in Mandurah so headed down to be greeted with 5 knots gusting to 8.  Rigged up the big sail then procrastinated a bit wondering why Mandurah was still reading 13knots but nothing at Boombas.  Then wind turned red at Mandurah but picked up to 10 knots so headed out.  Immediately got going and headed for Austin Bay.  On reaching there the wind died and fin bouncing along the bottom so turned back.  Wind was better in Robert Bay so stayed there but there seemed to be a lot of weedbergs and thick seaweed had multiple almost over the handlebars incidents then one over the handlebars so decided to try Austin bay again.   Wind was much better now so stayed in Austin bay until wind decided to change gear and I was overcooked on the 8.6.  Came in and rigged 7.8 which was much more comfortable and did a few more laps in Austin Bay.  On last run when all the way across Austin Bay the wind dropped right off and took a while to get going.   A rain squall was coming in from Liptons so I decided to head back close to van so I wasn't stranded.   Wind was continuously dropping but managed to stay planing all the way.  Just managed to get to the van when the rain hit and within 2 minutes the wind had literally dropped to zero, dead calm.  Sun came out and peaceful.   Would have been a very long slog or walk back had I not turned around when I did.   120 Tabou rocket, 8.6 Severne Turbo M4 then 7.8 Severne Overdrive M2 with Fangy fin 28 (now finished at 600 grit)

Glad you got to enjoy it Flex. The wind looked good on teh seabreeze graph. What time were you there and what was the range of wind strength?

I arrived 11:30 and Anemometer (ebay $20 special) was reading 5-8, procrastinated for 30mins and the instant mandurah turned red (Ane now reading 10) I went out which would have been just before 12.  You could see white caps and I got going immediately so it must have been at least 11-12knots just off the beach. Once out of Robert bay it died at 12:17 and I chugged around till 12:37 when got back into some wind.   At exactly 2pm it was too much for 8.6 (I had the loosest down haul ever though so in hindsight should have put more on before coming in) and did rig change then headed out again at 14:22 and was all good till 15:03 when it died but came back at 15:06 enough to get back when I finished at 15:17.  Wind was definitely near zero where I was by 15:25.   I was going to take a photo/video of rig down as it was quite surreal the contrast but then forgot.  Was a good day though with only wildlife for company.  The Bantam had decided to play golf.
