Melville Beach, WA, AU sonic 85, 5.4K, 30 Tribal powermax

I thought I would get out early before the rain started but sadly the rain started just as I arrived at Melvile. The expected 20 kn NNE had also swung N and dropped to  12 - 18. Unfortunately it was mostly 12kn, and I had left the big gear at home! Oh well. I rigged the biggest gear I had, 85L board and 5.4 sail and headed out. Just putted around for a few runs, occasionally on the verge of planing, and then the wind picked up a notch as it swing NNE again and I had a few well powered planing runs. The chop wasn't too bad and I felt well in control and I was having fun running between the swell lines, but lack of fitness meant I called it a day quite early.

A good training run, and home in time for hot soup for lunch. Potato and bacon. Yum!

Very pleased to find I still fit into my winter wettie. Nice and cosy.

The early start at boombas wasnt rewarded apart from good company but hopefully there'll be some good sessions logged.

Boombas, WA

A big turnout at Boombas today. Bit of a slow start as evidenced by Woody but plenty of crew down there to chat around the fire while waiting for wind to kick in. Met Flex (Jim) finally and had a good couple of hours on the Cruise Missile with 6.3 Loft Racing Blade. First time out in ages so I'm sure I'll be feeling it tomorrow.

Great to see such a big bunch of people sailing Boombas, started off tame but wind did build ust after unch, decided to come in and change over to the 5.5 to make to most of the stronger wind predicted. Derigge the 6.3 and wind started too boot in, unfortunatley when rigging the 5.5 snapped the webbing in the sail holding in the mast so day over for me. Would have been nice to give it a good squirt on the 5,5 but not to be. At least one intrepid Pinna was still out and I rekon he made the most of itLaughing

Melville, NNW, JP 54 Slalom, 5m Mach3, 28cm weedy.  Sunny and windy for an hour but none of this kit helped as it was very bumpy.  Nice to get out though with Flex and Mr very speedy Lockwood.

Nice little adventure. Wind was pretty dodgy for a while. Shame when it came through so did the tide making it a tad lumpy so i changed fins to suit the chop.

Great catching up with everyone

Point Grey, WA, AU. Arrived early with the plan to bag some distance before the wind really kicked in.  Got there a few seconds before Woody and Crimson Flash.  Rigged 6.5 but was underdone and the wind died right off so rigged 7.8.  Got into Austin Bay and wind was much better so hung out there.  No one came over till I had 100km on the clock by which time the wind was becoming too much for the the big sail.  Hung on for another 20km then came in at 120Km.   Was the busiest location ever...musty have been 15 vehicles.    Rigged 5.7 whilst charging the GPS but the wind really kicked in and seemed a little epic for me with the high tide, storm surge and most others seemed to leave.  Procrastinated for ages but Boz said he might head to Melville...this seemed a good idea so kept the wetsuit on and went to Melville. Should have done this sooner as at least conditions were manageable. Joined Slowboat, Reg and a few others and kept going till too hard to make out the swell in the dusk and rain.   120 Tabou Rocket, 7.8 Severne Overdrive M2, FF2 (then 5.7 RRD Move and 33 TWS at Melville)

Went to Meliville late arvo when it swung North and was pleasantly surprised that I timed it perfectly for a change. Cool

Some solid gusts broaching 25K, so I was stacked at times on the WT64 + 7.0 TR9 + 34 CL SL2 combo.

Water state was good, with smallish chop. It smoothed off as the tide dropped, but the gusts also backed off a bit.

Really fun sesh with Mr Boat for company.  4 months since I was this powered up on the slapper, so yeh that was bloody nice Laughing

Point Grey, WA, AU. Got down a little to early as hard to pick forecast these days.Rigged up the 6.2 Nx 90 RS2, 20ws.Hung around for a few hours keeping warm around the fire that somehow stayed alight during the rain.Feet and hands went numb for the first time in years and hard to feel the fin and board properly. Pulled the pin as the wind booted in, lost the mojo.. Big turn out and great chatting to the crew Well done Jim on your PBs,you are a machine :)

Anita, Well done for confronting the elements and still fitting your wetsuit!  You got back just in time to hear about the next Covid restrictions.  It seems the wind in Mandurah was much better but I could not get day release to go because our ducted aircon gave up on Friday, our oven was being cleaned by Helen who managed to smash the glass door, later on she drove our new car into the garage wall then one of my sons turned up in a state of distress about work.  Tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow will be better.

Mighty fine hour and distance Flex! Congratulations on two very well deserved PBs.

very close for who got the other distance jellybean.

Lunny, you haven't lost your MOJO. 37 easily the best boombas speed of the day.

It sounds like the company was great but my fitness not warranting a Boombas trip today. Glad I stayed local.
