1022 days ago 1 categories A TOW sail at Liptons, highlight was Waricles head through his sail, followed closely by the appearance of Lombok and his son.
No real flat, although what looked like pure glass at Pt Grey, wasn't game to investigate because I didn't trust the wind, and was only using the 48cm board.
Yes, wind was honking when I arrived, when Waricle took off with his 6.2, I was wondering if the 5.2 might have been a better choice than the 5.7. But by the time I eventually got out the wind had dropped and I could have done with the 6.2. Also the 20cm 40/60 was a tad small at times, worked well in the gusts, but I was spinning out in the lulls.
Played with mast track position, I'd started with it in middle of track, but board still too nose high, slaming into chop. ended up with it all the way forward, and that gave a much smoother ride and increased speed by about a knot. You're never too old tolearn something.
Wind continued to die, so I called it.
