Huge crowd at Boombas.....Anita, Decrepit, Waricle, Flex and me!  Arrived and the wind was sketchy but I tried for a while with 7m Mach 3 but the mast and cambers were mismatched so I came back in to try and rectify.  Then as I was fannying around, the wind came up!  Sod's law in action.  Went back out on the Patrik 120, 6.2 Mach 4 and Tribal 18 Delta weedspeed and thoroughly enjoyed myself for an hour and a half.  Then the wind disappeared as fast as it had appeared and Waricle and I just about got back to the car park but Flex and Decrepit didn't.  I nearly phoned the rescue services!

Point Grey, WA, AU.  Delusions of distance day.  Arrived around 9 and wind was picking up nicely.  Rigged 7.8 as forecast much stronger than yesterday and headed out.  Did one chugga chugga lap and came in, chatted to Decrepit, wind seemed to pickup so tried again, same result, back for another chat then out again and still chugg'n.  After this, Reg, Windstasy and Warricle had arrived, rigged 8.6, got going for 100m then wind died completely, becalmed.  Sun was out and nothing else to do so putted around at 2knots waiting.   Wind came, then went, then came back and of course way too strong for the big sail..hung on as long as I could but had to come in to change down.

7.8 was much better but for a few minutes was well over powered and the water was pretty lumpy but hung on. Initially planned on doing 8km laps but was too choppy and hard work.   Quickly figured out there was a nice patch of flat water behind the Cay in Austin Bay so hung in there.  Got 40mins of good wind but then died off.  Spent the rest of the session digging myself out of boggy bay.    About 1/2 way back on last run at the Cay, wind died completely.   Raced Decrepit back the last 4km...my top speed was 3knots but beat Decrepit soundly.  Wind picked up for the last 500m but was more westerly.  Finally got back to be greeted by Reg in his loud budgie smugglers (are you sure those are legal?)...was tempted to head back out to avoid this nightmare.    120 Tabou Rocket, 8.6 Severne Turbo M4 then 7.8 Overdrive M2, FF22

Point Grey, WA, AU iS111, sonic 85. 7m K, 5.4m K 24ff, 22 ff

It was warm, it was sunny, the spring flowers beside the freeway were beautiful, the company was good, my new wetsuit was very comfy, but the wind sucked.

Arrived at Boombas just as Decrepit and Reg were heading out. Wind 8 - 12 kn. Rigged the 7 m and 111L board, thinking it was a lovely day for a float around. Just as I was ready to head out, the wind kicked in and continued to build and the others came in to change down. At 18 - 20 kn I decided to change down, rig my 5.4 and use the smaller board. Unfortunately I had only packed one boom, so I had to mostly derig the 7 to rig the 5.4. Wind was dropping when I headed out again only to find none of the cams were on. Back to shore, rig again. By the time I finally headed out the wind had dropped even further. Couldn't get going on the 85L board, came in and changed to the 111. Decided I was not going to head down wind to Austin Bay and I would stay close to base as it looked like the wind was going to drop out. Wished I still had the 7 m sail rigged. Wished I had packed my second boom. Putted around for a bit and decided I was wasting my time and came back in. The guys were all becalmed down in Austin Bay and the wind had shifted so they were going to have to sail upwind in very light wind to get back. I was glad my delay in rigging had saved me from that dilemma. Eventually they all made it back, thanks to a lift in the wind. Of course it came in strongly again just after we had all derigged. Tease!

Flex, never mind my choice of swimwear, more importantly, our 1 hour effort was pretty good
