Boz (42999km): Glory Holes, Australind, WA, AU Bit of fun with stretch Elmo Hardie mike and the busso boys, not quite as expected but fun never the less Manta 58 KAR 6.3
Flex (17936km): Glory Holes. Another delusion of distance day and possibly the worst weather forecast ever. Started off ok, arrived just as the wind kicked in at about 14knots. Tide was very high so was plenty bumpy but the wind only lasted about 5km. Chugged around a bit, a freezing rain squall came and chugged some more then wind died right off. Was getting cold as went out in the summer wet suit so took the opportunity to change into the winter suit. Chugged around some more and Boz turned up. Quick chat and then out again. Was marginal at best. Wanted to give up but didn't want to waste the long trip. A pile of others arrived but weren't inspired. I kept going mainly to stay warm. A squall hit with some wind that lasted a couple of minutes then back to marginal. Started dredging the fin so came in (to give up). Met Elmo finally but wind improved slightly during a chat so went out again with smaller fin. One squall came through but that was it so gave up. Rigged down and of course wind improved. GW60 died at 98km but still had the DIY GPS's trucking along so did 2km of chugging to get to 100. KA72 not accepting the DIY files again so this from GPSSpeedreader. (KA72 log is from the GW60). 120 Tabou rocket, 7.8 severne overdrive m2, TWS33 (then ff28 at end). Should have stayed at Melville.
Pointman (25522km): Melville. I initially went to Foilville for a foil, but when I rocked up at 2pm it was blowing 25K+, so I wussed out and went home to get the slapping kit. Back to Melville, where I rigged the 7.8 M3 + M137 + 38 CL SL2. It promptly died. It picked up a little around 4, so I got on the water and plodded back and forth for an hour, wishing I'd stuck to Plan A. Came in at 5 resigned to a skunking, and as I was bemoaning my poor choices on the beach Huey returned, not with the same vigour as earlier, but enough to get the combo planing Last hour was fun, reasonably powered up, and the water state was pretty nice. Glad I got some time planing in the end
Reg (3745km): Fangy's Coodanup. Bumpy lumpy thumpy....me grumpy, so I went home. After 5km I gave up and The Scud entered the fray and he also gave up after a short sail. Evidence.... https://youtu.be/hi6q5hw3O68 Good start numbers from the team guys in Australind, didn't have the time to drive that far today.
Pos (13604km): Melville, WA Cruise Missile, 7.0 Loft & 34cm pointer. Nice session albeit a bit up and down at Melville on the westerly. Couple of nice long (but bumpy) runs over to Peli and back. |
