Australind, after getting there to seeing everyone either on shore or dogging around I was extremely unenthused, after 1/2 hour of waiting around the others were starting top come to life, so bit the bullet and rigged.
Turned out I had a lot of fun, trying to sail as much as possible to improve the non existant fitness.
Fun session, well worth the drive.

1177 days ago Glory Holes, Australind, WA, AU. Great roll up with a dozen sailors hoping to take advantage of the westerly. Unfortunately it arrived a bit late so those that left early missed out. SCR7 & XF122 (33kts), then FF99 (35kts, then CA52. Ended up being a great day

1177 days ago 1 categories Arrived at G.H. to not much wind, but Steve and Jim having some nice looking runs. Dave. Pete and Boz were rigging medium size sails, for when the wind kicked in. I follwed suit, went with the 55cm board, 6.2 koncept with the 23cm@40/60 weedy. This fin worked well at the start on a medium tide, but as the tide went out and weed got closer to the surface, I started to spin out. That's never happened to me before, I spin out in the chop, not the smooth. Should have changed it for a shorter 55deg rake fin but was too lazy.
Simon, stretch, Joe, Alby and Darren arrived. Simon and I hurried to get on the water before the big black cloud arrived, as we wanted to get upwind, so we could do a nice downwind run when the squall hit. We didn't do too bad, could have gone a bit further, but we had a decent run in flat water. At the end I went to check the GW60, but i'd forgoten to wear it!. Steve came to the rescue, he was right behind me and reckoned I had a 31. Great judgment Steve, it was 31.7, my 2nd highest. The wind then stopped, so went in for a cuppa, and strapped the watch on.
It took an hour for the wind to come back, but this time I had a bigger start and was a lot further upwind when it hit.so had a nice long run in the smooth. This was my top speed.
After that the wind got more consistent, but that's when I started have spin out problems.
