Pt Grey/Liptons. Arrived at Liptons to a perfect wind to try my new 6.2 Koncept. Half way through rigging it wind really picked up, Hardie advised I should go home for a smaller sail, but wanting to find the top end I ignored his advice. Good job too, as when I hit the water the wind had died back a bit. Seems like it stayed up long enought for Remery to get a PB, Heui was smiling on us two.

I had rigged the 6.2 to it's spec, 330 luff, looked like too much downhaul to me, but because I expected to be overpowered I left it. Wa OK across the wind going over the channel, but downwind it felt twitchy and easily stalled. The entry was very flat, not curved at all. So I let some downhaul off, well I meant to let some off, but I lost control and let off a lot. So tried the sail overly bagged out, which felt a bit slow and draggy, so had a go at pulling more on. But without Woody's help, I couldn't get quite enough with my harness hook. I noticed everybody else, (slugger, hardy, waricle and remery) were playing over in liptons, so I went back to the launch, tightened some loose battens and pulled a little more downhaul, this felt a lot better, and so did the wind, improved my speed by over 3knots. So happy with the sail, apart from one annoying little detail. The button that the elastic reainer hooks onto to keep the sail rolled up, is on the wrong side of the sail. The only way to use it is to roll the sail up with zips down.

So my 5 best 10s were all at Liptons, but I did manage an alpha at Pt Grey
