Valentine, NSW, AU

135/ F4 700/5.8

ENE 25kts+ - Crazy strong easterly that had me hanging on for dear life. Too windy in Croudace Bay so headed to Warners Bay for some relief. Squeezed in a couple of runs in between gusts but was pretty treacherous. A broken boom head ended my session early. Can't say I was too disappointed.Wink

15-23kts NE 7th ave Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU- level 0.24

7m M2OD - RS2( 90ltres) - 21.5cm FF ( cutdown 24)

Well that was great! I didn't want to deal with strong wind and new years eve boat traffic/ wake at Coal so headed to Budgy. The forecast was for only 13kts but I thought the synoptic looked promising.

Lovely and peaceful. I was the first out and the first back in.

I wanted to practise gybes. I was a bit too powered up for easy gybing but starting to improve. Plenty of bad habits to work on. I wasn't trying for the alpha but I noticed I was within the radius on the exit so had a go.

I did one planing one although I was a bit unco on the exit and too wide for an alpha.

Bugger- I just looked at the tracks and I reckon I could have got a decent alpha if I hadn't worked up so hard after the exit..YellI was super powered going into it..I'll have to pay more attention to the graph..Undecided

Not that flat for Budgy- 4- 6 " rollers but nice and flat compared to LM and it was nice to be able to rest in the shallow water.

I got the 2 sec on the run in and was sucked out for another go although I only got 31.5kts on that.

I could have been on the faster gear at the end - 6m - 80iso . Thats' not a bad speed for the fat foiled fin and RS2. I got a location PB for 100m peak of 32.71 so that was nice..

I was still feeling reasonable and figured I'd quit while I was ahead and hope for another go tomorrow.

I counted 15 out plus me. Brett from Port Macqaurie, Matt, and Pete.I was too far away to recognise the others.

I'm pretty stoked to be able to do this . 2 weeks ago I was getting heart tests and I've only been able to sail since last week..Smile

Well that was hard work. Too old, Too tired, Too windy, Too choppy. If only I was getting younger. Was hoping to go further today but huey had other ideas. Strongest NE er at Marmong for some time.

Plenty there. Lyndon and me then, Tom, Matt, Cluffy, James, Ian, Baz, and a couple I didnt know.

One run only - too windy for me!  It was fun, but a bit too scary.  I was quiet relieved to get back to shore.

Disappointed in the general lack of streakers.

Exocet RS6, TRX 7.0, Vmax 43 - Wind ENE 18-20 knots

Nice strong nor-easter at Marmong - really nice to be out there and hook into some gusts.

KA72 says that 28.8 knots is my peak speed for the year, out of a total of 20 sessions Cry this says plenty about the type of year 2021 has been.  Hopefully 2022 brings good wind, less lockdowns and more time on the water for everybody. Cool

Bit over cooked

7.7/114/38

When its hard to sail downhill on slalom kit you know you have too much sail! "full open lake chop + boat wake" might not have helped either.

Coon Island run was the spot if on the right grear, nice and flat through the slot!
