Sailquik (29906km): ![]() Inverloch A45, Vic. A super fun day at Area 45. The tide window was perfect for the time if the day and almost ideal for the angle of the wind. When I arrived I measureed a quite steady 20 knots Easterly at the waters edge. That pretty much what we had at the start but it cranked up a bit while we were sailing to mid 20's with gusts to high 20's. I stayed with the IS80 slalom board and 5.7m KA Race to see what I could squeeze out of it and did actually get a 40.3 peak, so very happy with that. Thats about as fast as I can make this combo go. There was probably another knot or two in it if I had come in for the speed board, but it was super fun and challenging so I just kept going. Lots of fun with lots of great fun people! So good to see all the big smiles on the dials. The fin was rock solid and fast all session in quite rough chop at times upwind and on the run-in's I am certain there was 5 knots more wind at Sandy Point, but the sand bars are far better at the moment at A45 and the crowd is more fun. IS80, 2022 KA Race 5.7m, Atomic Nuclear 20cm.

The angle was good but to get the best speed one had to run slightly borader than the bank at the end. This took you out into some chop so a bit hairy. At the end, I was super powered up off the wind so the run-ins to the course were a bit on the edge. All great fun if nothing goes wrong!!
