355 days ago Albany, WA, AU. Thought I was in Melville most of the day as wind was worst I've experienced for Albany, one minute doing balancing in no wind and next big gusts, holey and shifty. There was some sort of wind shadow going on so most of the flats were out of play so stayed in the chop most of the time. Plan was to go for hr and distance but would have been way better to do this yesterday as hard work today. The wind was mental during my hr attempt but it didn't last an hr and spun west and died in the last 10 mins or so. Wind died out at about 130km so came in to refill camelback, had a chat to SRS73 and the plan was for both to get to 200km wind permitting. I got to 211.5km and wind died completely and just managed to chug back. Took a look at GPSTC and realised I was less than 100m off PB, could have just run around but would have been cheating. Wind picked up again, so went out again, that was a mistake, got to kiters end and wind died and was a long tedious balance chug back to base. Spent more energy in the last km that the rest of the day. SRS73 totally killed the wind by going out on his speedboard....he suffered the same end as I did. Fingers, I really think you should have words with your son Finback, he's out there in T shirt and boardies and giant sail again when the rest of us are in winter wetties and small sails. iSonic 86, KAR 5.7, FF18V4

Totally different conditions today, spent most of the time on the AV62 trying for an hour & distance. The hour was a bit of a disaster with many spinouts and 3 dropped gybes due to spinout. I persisted anyway and very surprised with the result. Flex was clocking up the k's so we decided to go for 200 and I broke a harness line at almost exactly 200kms. Went out again on Anita's speed board but the wind shutdown which was probably a good thing as my legs and back were toast. Great trip again to Albany, looking forward to next time.
