Gusty, overcast evening at Long Reef as the overnight SEer started to drop off. Swell had built from yesterday, some nice size sets coming through, felt close to head high (up to 1.5m). Managed to get onto a couple but the wing didn't seem fast enough to stay on the wave. I felt like I was having to manage it pretty cvarefully not to breach or nose dive. Probably could have used the smaller wing when the gusts were up but pretty patchy at times so needed the comfort of being able to get up as I was the only one out the back.
Pleasingly given the lumpy and gusty conditions, I got round a few gybes but still struggling to get the board balanced on toe side sailing. As the speed builds up it tends to turn awy downwind and I fall in upwind, so I must be putting too much pressue on the rail.
Great fun to be out in those conditions!
