Christchurch Estuary, NZ ..Went to Lyttelton first because worried wind wasn't going to pick up on the estuary. This plan didn't work so well, ..big shadow on the inside, and when I got to the breeze which was suddenly quite strong there was also gruesome chop cutting up every which way - and so no way to pick a line. After a quick swim in the shadow on the far side managed to make it straight back, but with all my old bones feeling pretty shaken up. Think I might be to old these days for Lyttelton.

Then I was late for the tide in the estuary. Would have been alright If I'd gone with my Tribal 16, but risked my Flikka 22 instead, which was still in my board from sailing with it at Lyttelton. Got stuck allover the place with the Flikka in the weed (despite it being swept 50degrees), so much so I had great difficulty and used up a lot more time getting back for the Tribal 16. ..In the end had managed to swap the Tribal in, and it was very noticeably more useful, but there was hardly any water left.
