two boards, two sails, two fins, gusty wind.

When rigging, wind reading was the same as yesterday, when I was underpowered, so I rigged the same again (being the largest I had) but found I was quite overpowered on hitting the water. After a few uncomfortable runs on two different boards I came in and changed down  a sail size. That was much more comfy. practiced alphas again but either couldn't get the crosswind speed, or messed up somehow.

Pity there wasn't more wind because the water depth was lovely and it was reasonably flat

Best gybe was actually the third best alpha - alpha 18.327, max speed in  21.6, min speed 7.2, max speed out 22.8, that's only 4.5 kn less than the max speed, so I am pretty happy with that. Just need more speed going in...

Melville Beach, WA, AU

Light wind cruising with the occasional gust. Good to catch up with the crew and to see Shane O sending it on the big gear out the back.

Coodanup, WA, AU Arrived early so my daughter could have a go before the wind kicked in. Already white cappin…but looks are deceiving 😉 Wind was up and down most of the day and by the time it really came in I was done. Lovely sunny day and good company. Waricle, Jeff, my daughter Anquet and I rigged at Nairns, everyone else at Wamba st? Great to see so many sailors out. Sorry I missed you Anita.

Gloria, sorry I missed you too!

Only need to rig at Nairns when the tide is low

Gloria : Launch sites boring bits: Wamba street is the shallowest and hardest/crushed rock debris bottomed close to shore and has more cobblers which scare me off.

The Hook has deeper water 'hole' and soft muddy bottom at launch, Not as much trees atm, a little more exposed if the wind is unpleasantly strong, but nicer reticulated grass and picnic area and the least amount of walking and closest to the loos.

Nairns is the option when the tide is in the low 50's the low side heading to the low fifties.

Good to see you getting out Anita. Looks like the gybes are going well.

I have the same problem with my alphas. I used to think it was the gybe that got the alpha but i'm realising the crosswind speed is more important.Undecided I need to work on mine .
