Tried a new combo - 63w with the 30cm MK2, seemed to work well but didn't play too well with the weed and I had to stay out of the shallows. Some strong gusts out in the ferry channel.
Great to catch up with Boz.

13 hours ago Fantastic day out at Coodanup!!! First sail after ages because I injured my tailbone. Started the day out with my Isonic 87 then changed down to the Patrik 53. Not strong enough to get onto my favourite board, the Isonic 50L. Nice flats in close. But knowing me I never sail in the flats, instead I decide to give my Isonic a bit of a tough time. The carpark was to flat to do this so I went across the channel and headed to South Yunderup.
The steep jaggered chop glistened as the warm sun just past overhead and soothed the cold wind. The water washed over the nose of my board, thrashing the brown, red, and white underneath the black tannin stained water. As I run aground not so far away from South Yunderup I turned behind me to see the vast glistening chop with small red pettles moving in the flats. I flipped by heavy gear around and lifted one foot with a black reef shoe up onto the board. Shortly after I lift my other foot up but it was a big green reef shoe that dragged into the water. I shook my foot and the green vanished into the dark warm water. The board darted over the chop getting air and spinning out (Fangy Speed fin to). I passed a boat that was towing their kids in a donut behind them. As the boat vanish behind me I felt a sense of weightlessness and I wondered why the water was getting closer and closser, then it hit me. I spun out spectacularly and fell backwards. The warm water engulfed my salty face. I thought, "Go windsurfing, they said. It is fun, they said" as I had to waterstart my 4cam KA 5.5 race. Luckily the green, red, and clear cam didn't fill with much water so I was lifted with ease.
The shore grew nearer and the water clearer. I disembarked my equipment and set a new course to sail in the flats where I could stand and not spin out elegantly. The journey brought great joy as it was mostly downwind. I stumbled upon Rob and borrowed his carbon art. After much careful consideration I decided against sailing a Kestral speed fin a cross the channel. I promptly changed to the Patrik 53. And continued sailing.
Good turnout, Rob, Marie, Pete, Gloria, Anita, and Ant just to name a few. All in all a good day.🍄

12 hours ago 1 categories Groundhog day again today, 14 - 16 kn early, picked up a bit later. Nice and flat, warm and sunny. Board shorts and rashie weather today.
Struggled to get over 30 kn but managed it with a change to the speed board late in the day. My first 30 kn of the season. Felt like I should have been able to go faster than that.
Tried a gybe today and surprised myself that I could still do it. Mostly just having fun zooming up and down.
