Sandy Point. Vic

Wow! great fun session. Wind was a lot more variable than the forecasts predicted, but that was kind of good and a way as I could try to pick the squalls and swings. I got one beauty, but missed a coupl of others. Another good thing was that the tide was not that low and so it didnt start rushing in for quite a while. That meant the were no pressure waves until rigth at the last run.

First run I saw 40 on the dial. Thought, this is going to be a good day. Then the wind eased a bit and went SW so I struggled to get more than high 30's for a while. After missing a couple of nice squalls while walking back, I finally snagged a beauty  with the wind angle spot on. Then wated for another black cloud but this one went dead west. By then the whoopdedoos had appeared amd the tide was getting too high so that was it.

I am convinced that the sand dunes are lower in the middle of the run sice last summer. The edge of the bank is much deeper as well, so with the right wind angle, it can be very fast again. The wind angle is critical though as there is not much curve in the run anymore.

I was slow to get down and rig up as I thought I would be alone. Luckily, Roy was there so I felt a bit more confident. he came out for some runs after a while on his wave board and 4m sail Smile

Then Trent turned up and we had a crowd and a proper speed session. Laughing. Just after he came out we got the best squall.

A few more of those would have been epic. great to see just over 43 on the dial again.

The new 2020 KA speed felt great. Super stable and grunty. I love it already!! I recon the time tuning yesterday paid off as I seemed to have got it set spot on first try. Really looking forward to some more 35kt+ squalls now. All the discussions on how to improve the already great 2019 5.2m paid off. The tweaks we made are exactly what we had hoped for. That is really satisfying.

Had a close up view of a really nice get-off by Trent. Laughing Luckily, no harm done. Great to sail with you mate.

Hey Andrew,

Thanks for the sail today, it was pretty interesting when those dark clouds moved though. It was good to catch up, and yeah all good after the wipe out...

Stay in close and NOT out wide Surprised

Bradman, the dunes certainly looks smaller and more rounded in the middle section. The one in the start area is worse though.

It's amazing how one good squall and that run can turn a good day into a great day. Laughing

We wait sooo long for that magic 30 or so seconds. Tongue out

Nice work Troppo.

The dunes are definitely not gettin' any smaller! Daffy's being very wishful in his thinking! They may have been flattend off a bit, but they're almost totally joined together now! GRRR! The gaps between them are shorter than the dunes! It makes getting a super fast run absolutely impossible as the wind is incredibly inconsistent now. No one will ever do 49-50 here again unless it's absolutely nuclear.
