Patrick 100, NP RSR Evo XV 6.5m, Nemesis 30cm.

Sailing with me mates today as Mr Flex would put it. the trendsetters got of the water as it was getting a wee bit blowey.

The breeze looked consistent down the whole run today, struggled to get very fa rupwind so figured time to give it a send on my naughty challenge.

So I sent it, a flat(ish) start near the boat ramp which soon transitioned into a motocross track, but the wind was good, I had a full clench going on so kept the send going and going and going, occasional glances at the GPS was promising if not wise in the conditions. The naughty came up and kept the hammer down for another 15 secs.

When I pulled up  I thought I had a 33 peak was stunned to see a 35. waited for the naughty to come up hoping for a 30 (my challenge this season) gob smacked to see 31, just as well nobody was there to see the happy dance.

Worked back up wind and sent it again, unfortunately pulled out to early to end up with a 29.898 Nm.

Stoked with the session, legs are numb and feel like they've had a proper work out.

Even happier to not add to my bruise collection.

Good times in the lumpy goodness

Fangyland with the gainfully underemployed. A really nice arvo comparing a couple of fins back to back. Identical except the foil thickness; one at 12%, the other at 10%. Long story short was that the 10% wins in just about every department. The 12% was slightly more benign when doing dumb things, but not enough to make the drag penalty worthwhile. It was only half a knot slower, but required at lot more effort, as you could really feel the drag heaviness once the speed got into the high twenties. I think I would only suggest the 12% for a newcomer to low aspect fins to use while getting a handle on things, or maybe really big kit.  Next time it's 8% vs 10% to see when the lift and handling compromise really starts to hit home for my Neanderthal approach to windsurfing.

Fangys with lots of Good company, Fingers of course chalenged me to get 30kts, but I didn't quite make it.

Took a gamble on the speed gear to start with.

48cm board 5.7 speed and 19cm@55 deltoid. hAd a 29.7, with that, but this rig was great in the gusts, just a underpowered. but in the lulls I could get it started, just wore me out.

Thought I might try the 6.2 koncept with it, but think the board's probably a bit too small for that sail.

So went with the new 60cm with 26cm@40/60. this was more comfortable and gave me the extra .1kts. but the wind had dropped off a bit.

I have a feeling I'd have been better off with the old cut down 55cm board, wouldn't have been so hard to get going and probably quicker with the 6.2 on it.

Maybe try it next time it's 15 to 18

A fun outing at coodanup , but the stangest thing , my spare key went missing . You know what Sherlock holmes says .???

Someone probably took it while I was sailing??  Took a while to get the car open .

It was attached to a hiding place on the chassis with a magnet.??

Got me puzzled !!    Have not found it yet.

Puffin, someone found a set of keys, but we did not react in time to get his contact info. He asked as if they were ours and we just said "No". Sometimes I wish I had a brain .. sorry. It's possible that they left them somewhere?

Thanks All, I've been working at it for two years trying to get quicker in the lumpy, trying to keep up with Terry has been a huge (humiliating a lot of the time) help.

Today it all just lined up with a solid breeze all the way through for a change and the chop wasn't particularly nasty at around knee high apart from 15 secs near the boat ramp.

Richo, I was at Novara
