6097 days ago Gotta be happy with todays session, 37.55 knts on the dial, lot's of wind hard to judge about 15 to 25 with the odd gusts around high 20's maybe 30? , the only problem was the chop, it was very choppy, hard to hoild the speed on when the boards leaving the water, scary as hell. F2 Missile, JP weed Samuel Conversion, Gaastra Vapour 5m. I'm very impressed with the Missile, great board handled the chop amazingly, and the Gaastra 5m just wants more wind, and never gets out of shape, very happy chappy wanted to get close to 40 today but conditions wouldn't allow, but gives me confidence If I can go that fast in chop, then on a flat course I can see 40 being attainable!!

Quite a gusty Lumpy session, which through carefull planning and execution I managed to mistime the squally bits.
Rode the Thommen for a bit, but found the JP quicker in the conditions, it appears that I gave the boys on shore a bit of amusemnet trying to get the thing going when thewind wasn't quite strong enough.
Had a couple of quick runs on the SX with a 31cm Weedy when the wind was easing up, on my run in to pack up had the board well clearof the water just running on the fin, way sweet.
I had started packing up when another squall came through managed tojust get my kits back on to catch the tail end of it and grab another 35.
Better than working

6097 days ago 1 categories Well done to the 2 big boys for the numbers! Was not easy today to get some high speed with this chopy water. I rarely fall off in the jibe usualy, today was my falling day, was so hard to get a clean spot to jibe.
Flat water was none existant, shame because was some nice gusts to get you near the 40 I recon, the runs was quite scary and got smachted hard few times.
The wind being so changing, I keep swinging between my 5m Rock and 5.8 RS, I started the day with my Hybrid 22 finished with the Cham 24, all done on the Sonic W-52.
Good training day with MB's

Fun day way too choppy due to being a southerly.
After my first 3nm run my harness line snapped. It was bloody hard sailing back up wind unhooked.
happy with speeds as i was sailing over the back of knee high+ chop

6097 days ago 2 categories Long day but finaly cracked 200km (just).
Well pleased the wind held up enough to see it thru without having to change up.
Actually was easier doing the distance with less wind, not so much chop, or strain on the arms.
Tried my 18cm weedy, got another 1.5kn with it, but unfortunately, both runs I tried it on ended in spin out and crash, either it's just too short for the chop, or it's a bit too thick.

6094 days ago I had a great sail on a gusty after work session (with Nebs and Decrep). About 2 hours on the water trialed differeing mast base positions and 3 different fins (Elmo's JP, 23cm concrete wave weedy rebox and Mistral crossover 30cm). All did 27kts but only the JP weedy was easy upwind ( although when the wind blew I could do 22-24 kts upwind on each of them . Mistral Screamer Concept and Tush raptor 5.7. Packed up at dark.
Now wondering what it is that limits my speed on this setup. common factors are the sail, the board and me......hmmm
congratulations to two PBs in difficult conditions: while I was there the wind was going from below planing to maxed on the 5.7 in a few secs. Add in the confussed big chop and it was a great achievement.
While sailing I could see Max speed and averages but now cannot find file on card. Figures above from GT-11 screen. Have now formatted the SD card and the GPS is recording correctly to the caed again. I will next try NAVIlink to get the data off the GPS (thanks for the tip Mineral). Stop Press: thanks to Nebs expertise I am now a bit wiser: used data logger menu on GT-11 to load sessions onto card, deleted previous sessions and then filtered out spikes ( I am trying hard but I had one short period at 90kts. Deleted this and anything else above my likely top speed of 30kts.) This gave me the missing data from this session.

6094 days ago 1 categories Big day. At the start everything went wrong, didn't have the right head cap for a loaner sail, downhaul broke, didn't have the right screws for the fin, and eventually had to make a quick trip home to get the strapper.
Once I'd settled down everything was fine, threw a couple of duckies and had a ball. Bit stiff today but well happy to have cracked 200 k's. I've been wanting to do so for about a year
