Anthony Perkins (22612km): will tell you more about it tommorow f2 xs, north warp 5.8
Steve200 (36854km): Wow, this was the windiest I have ever sailed in. It is the first time I can recall where I have got to the beach and havent had to think of what size sail or which board to use. The water was completly white, lifting off and just totally insane. I rigged the 4.6 SSR and Isonic 50. I could have used a 3.6 and would have been flying no probs. Most of the time I was just waiting for the wind to back off a bit because I was totally overpowered. When I did manage to get going I was pretty well out of control. Pretty crap top speed, very dissapointing but just too windy. I went out at pittwater, the wind had too much West in it to get the right angle for the causeway. I have never had a good sail there and am not keen to go back. We need to find a new spot for NW winds. The guys have gone to Strahan (Henty River) and they will hopefully set a new Tassie speed record.
Izaak Perkins (22741km): got up at 6;00am to go to henty river which is 2.5 hours away.once we arived rigged up and went out,the wind was to much to the north so came in and sat there for an hour.nothing changed so i went back to the car and warmed up and had some lunch.then walked all the way back to find dad, dave and stew flying down the run.so got out there and did half an hour of speed sailing then came in and i am stuffed.any way really pleased with the speeds because i was not over powered but with the wind a tad more to the west it would of been the best day....but it still was to get really good speedsi have reached my goal lets hope i will improve it soon. just looking at track log posted distance as my 2 sec too tried after big day sorry guys, bugger not as awsome as i hoped (jet) will be pleased. gear-ca sp 44,north warp 5.3,tmv7 22 speed proto
Dave Morehead (29590km): Finally posting. Too tired last night after 11 hrs of driving and 9 hrs down at Henty. Three times to this place now and each time managing 40 knots runs (with Perks). The spit is the best it's been. We just needed more wind. My best run was with a 4.6 SSR, while wind was strong, but extremely broad (third run for the day). Changed up to the 5.6 after about 5 runs and then had to wait for the wind to swing more to the NW. As the wind swung around most runs were 38's and 39's, but not many puffs to push you any faster. Well done Izaak on your 35+ knot run, that's fantastic. I would love to get this run with more wind!! I reckon we had 20-25 knots. Funnily enough, the rest of the state got battered by gales (strongest gust in Hobart was 156 km/hr). Sailed Starboard iSonic 50 (proto) with 4.6 and then 5.6 Severne SSR's. Three runs over 40 and posts are from GT31.
Stewart McKay (8580km): Great to have a run on the infamous Henty river. Took me a while to get used to the situation and by that time the wind had dropped off a bit. Awsome potential for this place but a big effort to get there. Even bigger effort with mad dog Perkins driving!! |
