Stringer (7685km): scored a bruised or cracked rib on one of my first runs today about 3:45 at peli, way overpowered in the gusts with the 6.7RSSMkii CA 44 and 23CLsym. soldiered on with suspected ruptured spleen and padded up the ribs with a life vest hopped on the 86 with the 5.8 and 30tectonic Falcon still too overpowered in the gusts and underpowered in the lulls., but love that fin! its my favourite.
had the 5.0 rigged but didnt give it a burl.. at least it got wet in the rain. was supposed to be targetting nm and hours and alpha but the conditions werent there or hours or alphas so i had one nm crack from peli to agrestic and it got hairier and haryer as you got further out.. the ride back was nicer down the hills which paved out a nice path... in bed at home now soaking up the smpathy for the broken ribs and ruptured spleen.. ill probably have escalated to complete abdonimal hernia by tomorrow for the extra sympathy.. :)
hope there is some backup for the nm which will be a marginal improvement on the team score... an etra 6 places i think that will put us in first place
Slowboat (49283km): Pt Walter. Got there in the afternoon since I was still feeling broken from yesterday. Reluctantly pulled stuff out of the car watching the insane gustiness of it all. Some big squalls came through then nothing. I opted for 5.8m on the bigger board (SP53 proto) for comfort and hole gliding. Used a 25 asy and the combo felt pretty sweet. I hooked a smoking gust and got my fastest run for the day on that setup. 41.5 on the dial (41.1kt 10sec). Nearly ate sh!t at the end running into the chop. It was pretty square when the wind filled in. Came back in and grabbed the SP44/CL24A and went back out for some more. I hooked a few bits of gusts but was never there for the right second to catch the bullets. My best on that was a 41.1 on the dial. One squall nearly nailed me at 40.6kts out in the chop. The sail almost wrenched out of my hands as I was hit from behind by a 35kt bullet. Right when I was at full speed past the end of the sandbar in the bouncy stuff. Plenty of smoking gusts coming through. Thanks bogdog for rescuing my poorly secured board (again). Strangely I feel quite relaxed now and not as sore as yesterday. The 5.8m felt SO nice today. Given how wild the conditions were I'm amazed. Pretty stoked to get the SP53 proto wound up.
Claude (28076km): Went for a wander down to Mandurah estuary looking for some flat water but tide was too high even Hardies was a mission with mid 34knt peaks, got a bit lonely out there so headed back to Pt Walter, totally overpowered today on the 6.1 and after a few big off's decided to save it for another day, great watching Slowey having a ball and showing us how it's done. W49, 6.1CR felt more like a 6.5, 26 F1.
Whitey (887km): A fun short sail on the CA50 at Pt Walter with a bunch of the crew, Falcon28 & Koncept 5.8. Stacked it in pearler of a gust and broke a top batten. Was back on shore before the 40 knot gust came through. Pleased with the new board and hoping to do it again tomorrow. |
