JP V 92, NP RSR 5.8, JP slalom 34 fin. First time out on new JP slalom 92 and first time out at Point Walter. Took me a while to work my way to the lee of the sandbank and find out that it was easily deep enough. Unfortunately although the water was getting flatter by the minute the wind was becoming increasingly holey. The new board should be good on the slalom course but I need to get a smaller 'speedier' fin for the GPS game. I reckon there might be some good to speeds to be had at Point Walter this afternoon if you luck out with the gusts but I'm going to the ocean in search of some waves.

Got to Pt W to see Yoyo scoping the spit. We decided it looked good and as we rigged up the rain came in and the wind died. As I finished rigging the crowds of SRM arrived. I was nominated wind dummy and headed across to dalkeith. Big gusts and holes and the wind then swung so that runs could be made coming back down the spit. Big squalls with complete white out, double rainbows and at time real flat water at the bottom of the island (that was all there was of the spit). Best was 32.5 for the first hour and then the wind started to pick up with the swing allowing flatter water. A 34 and 36 in the next half hour almost saw me call it quits but watching Slowy skimming centimetres from the bank made me decide to keep going and was rewarded with a 37.3 on the display. A new PB for the Elmo weedy and this board by 0.1 display and .03 2 second. Also first time at these speeds with the koncept rigged on the powerex skinny. The set up felt very good today and with a smaller fin I think there is more to come. Probably should have used the 24 choco. Top crash of the day went to Whitey who having spun out, bailed out and did three full revolutions across the surface of the water before he broke the surface. A top winter sail. Just shy of the 5x10 PB at 34.58 but just getting too tired to keep riding the bullets. Thanks Chris for the help carrying the gear ( I was that buggered). Well done James on the Pb's this morning. Koncept 5.8, JP84 slalom II, 29cm elmo weedy. Wind 14 -30 with gusts to 40.

Decided it didnt matter how late it was I was going to get out. Melville, 5m got there at about 4:00. Probably had the time to drive the extra distance to Pt Walter but couldnt wait that long Smile

Probably not the best day for the first try on my sonic, fin a bit big and gusts a bit too much. in the lulls the board felt good. There was a problem with a new board and feet with no feeling in them, very hard to find the back strap.

Its probably a PB shortest distance travelled !

Dawn raid at Dalkeith...

It was fantastic, the only thing missing was my GPS!  Has it been that long since I used it?

Thats a beatiful postcard picture Ben, I bet it was colder than it looks !

Great numbers guys, mine look very ordinary in comparison, I was so annoryed with the traffic getting to Canning hwy that I couldnt wait any longer to get on the water. A bad choice as it turned out.

Is it just me or does everyone get a red cross on James's avatar  - the code says the picture is http://gpsteamchallenge.com.au/images/uploaded/1646- but the ones that "work" are like http://gpsteamchallenge.com.au/images/uploaded/1419-Walpole_gybing.jpg

Just wondering ?

Hmmm yeah I'm not sure why this happens.  Perhaps it's because they hit "Browse" and chose a dodgy picture or something?

To fix it go to your "My Data", click "Delete Avatar" then upload a new one.

Top effort Mark clocking 60 kays in those conditions.  Pretty bloody quick as well. Smile

I was watching Seabreeze around 2 and thought it was gonna die in the ass...couldn't have been more wrong.  Shoulda joined you!

James, well done on the PB's.  Not bad for your first trip to Wallyworld.  The wind is pretty well always holey at Pt Walter.  Must be something to do with the local topography.  Lucking into a gust in the right place at the right time is pretty much the art of the place.  Makes it an intriguing and somewhat frustrating spot to sail.
