Great windy day down at hardies run. Drove 80km only to break the 2nd boom in as many days within the first hour (not to mention the middle batten in my new sail Frown). Absolutely shattered this time as its my only other boom, so no sailing for good few weeks FrownCry Hopefully some of the guys have some luck down there today anyway! Thanks again Crasher for lift back up that was super! Smile

Sonic 85, Ram 6.3, FO 28 Weedster

As a point of interest what is the deal with posting hour times when there is a hole in part of the hour (ie my last 18 mins). realspeed will cut it if remove slow points is used but IMO the hour still exists (even if part of it is at 0.01kn speeds) hence instead of the 14.28kn I posted it would be somewhere near 18kn. Anyone shed some light on this??

Quick blast at Peli with Dave T, 6.8, perhaps rigged a little big... A little choppy...

JAKE... I have a spare boom or or two you can borrow...

Long session at Melville. Arms are nackered, feet are battered, gonna sleep well tonight.

Jake! What a bugger.

Still can't get the Futura dialled in, sooo much more comfy on the RRD - could even point better - WTF?? Super happy with the RRD setup.

Futura 93 + 6.5/5.5 + MFCSL32

RRD FSW85 + Manic 5.3 + JP24

Fantastic session at Hardies.

Solid 20K, gusting to 23ish.

Powered up on my near-new Maui TR-5 7.0 + S-Type 93 + 31 JP weedie.

Managed to avoid any major groundings and emerged unscathed on a very low tide.

Had an absolute ball and the combo felt sweet (Picked up the TR-5 yesterday after my 6.6 Koncept finally gave up the ghost after Wednesday's session).  The JP weedie is nothing special, but I wouldn't have been comfortable running a pointer today.  Had a few 'wriggly moments' as it was hitting the snot at speed.  Looking forward to plugging the new Talon 34 into this setup.

Sorry to hear about the boom Snake, and sorry I didn't back up your hour Mark (nice PB Cool ), when I saw you dogging for a spell I thought you'd given it away Embarassed.  I couldn't have stayed out any longer at any rate, my leave pass was in the red.

And the freeway extension rocks.  Home to Oz Park in just under an hour. Cool

Welllll!!!!

More carnage at Hardies! But a PB!

Got to Hardie's to see Snake charging around and the wind at a steady level but not nuking. Good turn out from various crew and good to catch up with the MM.

Target was Nmile and hour. Rigged the 5.8 and put it on the nonose with a 24cm weedy. Pointman and I went out and I took him on a run to show the way. Had to have a sizeable detour in it as the snot fields extended way out. Not really powered the whole way. Worked back up wind and had to turn round in the snot and head back out to get back up. Second run was better (best of day) but still not super quick (2nd time within .01 of a PB). Third run started well with a 31 ave over 800m but suddenly realised I had gone too deep and had a decision to make. The sensible decision, stop or head up and the one I made which was I can get through a gap in the two glassy snot weed patches! Fin caught and released, yeahh! Then the second one got me! Over the bars at 32 and landed thigh on mast and shoulder in middle panel. Broke top batten no middle panel and a throbbing leg the result. Coulda been a PB!

Managed to sail the board back even with a big hole in the sail and derigged.

Put on the 5m and switched to the JP 84 and the 29 weedy. Decided there was just enough time for an hour attempt. Wind had filled in nicely and I was well powered on the 5m. Blasted across the estuary and back and then got a 2 minute hole on the inside! Doh! Decided to keep going and the wind continued to build. Set up was spot on and extended the next leg until cramp in the back foot signalled time to turn round. Later in the hour was joined by Stringer (well done on the PB) and Sam (thanks for the company guys and checking up on me). Ended down by the island and managed to blast back up in two runs. Could not see where the boat ramp was sailing in to the sun and sailed well past.

track

Ruler is 3.5 NM.

graph

Decided to have one more mile run to finish and then called it quits. Top day.

Well done Pointman on the PB's. We were so close to top Nmile spot. You now have number 2 mile for the team.

Awesome respect for Claude, 25 and Jesper for their amazing hours. I don't think I could have got much more than another half knot for the hour on a perfect run. Amazing board speed.

Sorry that the hour gods are giving you a beating Snake! Hope that the other injuries are not too bad. Annika's knee, Sam's shin, Yoyo's midriff.

And finally Pinnas, number 2 in the world CoolCoolCoolCoolCoolCoolCoolCoolCoolCoolCoolCoolCoolCoolCoolCoolCoolCoolCoolCoolCoolCoolCoolCoolCoolCool(for October)

Snake, send file to me at home.

I have a spare carbon boom you can use (Fibrespar) if you want to use it til you get sorted.Cool

Its an older model, adjustable out-haul. You will be going to break it. No issue if it goes crunch, but reckon it wont. Smile

Hi snake,

It is the total distance done in 1 hour.  So even if at half hour you had done 30 k's and were heading for a 32 knot hour and you did nothing for the next 30 mins your hour would only be 16 knots.  It is total distance in 1 hour.  By the way wishful thinking on a 32 knot hourWink.  Hope you find a boom soon.

Good to see WA getting some wind and keep waiting for the posts.  Hope it is our turn early in the weekSmile.

Yeah I sure do have a talent, bugger cuz that hour today would have been around 25kn i reckon (18kn at 42 mins!) Surprised. Thanks for the boom offers guys, I'm a touch reluctant to borrow any gear with my luck haha. seeing as there's no wind for a while anyway I may be able to hold out. I think I can get the spare parts for the chinook tuesday this week as half of it looks fine, but I'll keep the offers in mind =P. Just lucky that with 2 boom explosions none of my sails have been damaged =D
