Windy as hell at Woodies.  25-30K, gusting to over 30 by the time I prematurely called it a day.

Fully lit on my brand spankin 2010 6.4 Koncept + SP47 + 23 KA assy.

It was shaping up as an epic sesh...heaps of wind, highish tide and no kites Smile.

Speeds were getting progressively quicker.  First run 36.9.  Then a couple of 37s and a couple of 38s.  Didn't feel quite right, then I loosened off the starboard harness line and it all felt good.  Got a nice gust coming in at the top of the strip and a nice squirt of acceleration...I knew it was quick.  Then in a nanosecond I lost the backend in the chop,  which was quite bad for Woodies, tripped the rail and had a high-speed stack 3 seconds after nailing my 2 sec PB.  Over the handlebars, boom exploded and my ribs smacked the remnants of my boom hard.  Came up gasping for air and hurting like hell.  Think I've busted a rib Yell.  Also snapped a batten and tore the batten pocket in my brand new sail!  What price a PB huh?

Fortunately Mark was on hand to help me ashore and carry my kit up the beach.  A pretty good lesson in why we should always sail with a buddy (I've sailed solo at Woodies plenty of times in the past, but after today I won't do it again).

Rapt to crack 40 (at first I thought it might have been a spike from the crash, but it precedes my stack by a few seconds), but anxiously awaiting the doc's verdict and contemplating a stint off the water which sux arse Cry

Hopefully it's just bruising (I always wear a bouoyancy/impact vest, could've been a lot worse).  All I know is it hurts like hell.  Also wondering how much quicker I could've gone today.  It was getting stronger as I packed up, gusting to 35K.  Looks like more PB rain in Perth today, how good is this summer!!

Edit:  doc' verdict; Just bruising...bring on the red wine and pain killers! Tongue out

Ribber... sailed across to Pt Wally briefly... Was reminded just how gusty the ribber can be... start, stop, sink... start....whoa... sail almosr ripped out of hands... stop... sink... and so onUndecidedLaughingLaughing

Lorck Divison S, 83 l sinker... Loft Blade 5.6. Really nice combo when going... really sinky combo in those melville glassy bits...

Thought Id see what the ocean was like. The normal Mettams to Sorrento.

Wild conditions, so much wind and swell. Lots of people windsurfing at Mettams and heaps out surfing at Watermans.   Wondering if I should get a 3.5 for days like this. Spent most of the time either pointing upwind to slow down, or surfing downwind with the sail luffed. Running across the wind was just too hard to control. Then when getting near to sorrento it seemed to pick up !

Well. What a difference wind makes.

Headed to Woodies with Pointman to find a low tide and all sorts of kite ramps and slides on the course. But only one kite.

Had a few runs at 36 but the wind had not filled in yet. Got a 37 and stopped to watch Greg come down the run. He had an absolute screamer then, BANG! One of the nastiest crashes I have seen. He cartwheeled twice before going through the water. He came up holding a piece of boom.

Sailed over and he was clearly in pain so we carried the pieces back to the bottom car park. I sailed back round and packed up because I didn't want to sail with no one around. By then the wind was really hammering.

Drove to Wallyworld to find it heaving!

Rigged up and put more downhaul on the 5.7 (on Ado's advice, I suspect sabotage!) but it felt horrible. Kept dragging the foot in the water and the sail felt floppy. Tried moving the track but made no difference. Let off the downhaul and managed to score a couple of gusts with a 39.98 then a 40.14 on the display.

Didn't really get settled and got one more 40.08 display. Still very pleased with top 5 2 second over 39 (all of which would have broken my PB last week).

Well done to all those that broke 40 today. Awesome speeds from 25, Ado and Slowy as usual.

Boy has the bar been raised this week!

Pointman, glad to hear your "only" bruised. I did that a few years back and couldnt believe how painful it is. My father in law, a retired GP, commented "its not broken you would be in more pain if it was !" - how would he know how much pain I was in was my thought.

Wow, well done Pointman!  I guess you have to push the envelope to get that sort of speed, what an epic tale Surprised

nice one Greg! Spewing about the spinout. The runout is often scarier than the highest speed bit. Got to keep a little pressure on the windward rail to stio the fin from ventilating. Scary when it happens at speed!

Thanks for all the congrats guys.
Had a lie in this morning and the pain isn't too bad...chucked a celebratory sickie anyway Wink

Should be back on the horse within a week.

Epic couple of days we've had in Perth, seems like the 'good ol days' when 30K seabreezes were a regular occurrence.
