Pointman (25522km): Morning sesh on the easterly with a few Pinnas. Very gusty, with a big wind shadow on the shore side at Majestic. Gusts in the middle were prolly 22-23K. Went with C70 + 8.5 Koncept + 44 Talon. Board was the right choice, but would've been more comfortable on the 7.5...the 8.5 was a handful in the gusts. A few good runs back and forth, but the procession of big Rotto-bound stinkboats churning up the channel meant the water state was a tad uncomfortable at times. Sailed for around 45 minutes and came in to change down. Decided to flag it. OK sesh. Probably should've got down earlier like the other guys before the channel got busy. Good to see Mark, Jeff, and Marcel having a crack and meet new team mate Adrian...welcome dude.

Jeff (13640km): Early morning Majestics, good fun. All spoilt a bit by me searching for car keys for an hour only to find them under the front seat where I had looked 3 times before. At least I found them. The sailing was good (Mikes Loft 6.6 - I will return it honest, Sonic 95, JP Weedy ?) Nice to meet new member Birdman, welcome aboard, good turnout and Windxtasy rigging up as I was leaving.

Windxtasy (13938km): Not feeling very energetic today. 85L board and 4.75 sail. Nice in the gusts, too small in the lulls. You were right in recommending the 5.7 today Mark! My first sail at Majestic Point. Good location.
lao shi (41082km): Early session at Majestics good team turn out. Hardpole, Marcel, Pointman, Windxtasy and new team member Birdman first on the water by a long way. I saw him as I was driving round from peli side at about 6.15! Very low tide and both Marcel and Birdman found a rock ledge over towards the Brewery. Can't see it on Google Earth. Luckily without too much damage. As always when I use the battleship seem to spend the last 20 mins on the edge of control as the wind picks up but it was reasonably flat and I think this is a PB hour for this kit. Came in to see Pointman rigging and he sweet talked me in to borrowing the futura 111 again (really had to twist my arm!). We started to go for an hour but the stink boat procession had started and the wind swung so that the runs were much shorter. Some holes appearing so we called it quits and then the wind returned as we were packing up. Could have been a big distance day as I already had 65 K up at 10ish and it kept blowing till 2pm. But went and scored moving brownie points instead. Koncept 7.5, Battleship and a brief outing on *brd futura 111 and 40cm Talon (thanks for the loan Pointman) Darryl achieved a new speed record for no footstraps sailing on a SUP!
Well done to Chris on the PB hour! Given us a bit of a bump up the table. Have to see what the butterflies do. Glad you found your keys, Hardpole! Have to get one of those whistlig key finders! http://www.logogift.com.au/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=4_11&products_id=785

Chris Porter (11725km): Posted for Chris Thanks for that Mark. Great session at Hardies in a surprisingly solid Easterly. Sailed with Jemma, Hardie, Elmo and Binny. Unfortunately Jemma didn't get to have a turn of the GPS since I was going for an hour. Hr is the most difficult category for me as I am always tinkering with sail and board trim, but today I just stuck with it and cruised around for an hour (managed to stay dry). Conditions weren't fast, so I know I can do better one day. Stoked with a PB! Naish SP 91; Stealth 6.4; FO Weedster 260
Birdman (2707km): Mistral One Design 7.6m2. Struggled to keep consistently planing for first hour fro 6am to 7am. Breeze picked up around 8am. Had fin ripped out on one run on lee shore near Como - around 100m upstream of the yellow marker bouys - rocks - beware at low tide. Great to meet several of the Pinnas team on my first day. |
