Melville with the hope of wind today. It delivered once but was way too overpowered, then too underpowered the rest of the time. lots and lots of dogging it today waiting for wind that never came. Good to see Snides out there loving the fun Tongue out

Very frustrating outing at melville with a good team turn out.

Arrived to see whitecaps and people ripping around. As I hit the water it died.

One good squall gave three good runs in the space of 7 minutes.

Another 2 hours spent waiting for the next one which never really happened. Lots of slogging and even some swimming.

Tide was great for runs in to the corner just needed the wind.

Warp 6.3, *brd nonose, Yoyo 27cm weedy.

Melville Beach, WA, AU

Fanatic Shark 160L, Gun 8.1m, Fanatic 52cm

Didnt' know which sail. 6 or 8.Everyone was on 6.5-7....so I fitted 8 and it was a good choice.

The board felt like riding a Clysdale at times...The last 10 minutes I was way overpowered. The wind arrived with a lot of rain.

Dismantled the gear in rain, and got home wet and cold, a grappa is in order...

But hey, top speed over 20 knts!!! All PBs !!! I'm happy.

Realised this morning that I hadnt patched the hole I put in my sonic on Sunday so only took the CA Speed, then rigged for the forecast rather than the conditions and put up the 5.8 - then after waiting a while the rain came and for about 20 minutes it was great !

Elapsed time 136 minutes, trave time  100.48 minutes, distance of 16.93 Km is 9.14 Nms so an average speed of 5.45 Knots - thats about what it felt like as well ! I think that is a brisk walk.

Nice to see everyone, bring on some more fronts !

Fun session.. underpowered on a 5.8. During the heavy rain on a speed run I scared the crap out of Mark - nearly taking him out after not being able to see anything through my sail (sorry mate) Embarassed

Boundary Island, Peel Estuary

An exciting little sail in a 20 knot northerly, watching the approaching black storm front drawing ever closer and deciding to cut my session short to get the boat and crew to safety up river before the "cyclonic" winds struck.

Pity I couldn't stay for the real excitement!

10knts increment? You are not easy to please... Laughing

I'm totalling 12-13kms distance. Can't believe some of you did over 10000 kms in 2 years....

I saw Mark, Chris and Marcel  at the carpark, and Jeff on the water. So there should be a few more lines above...

Seriously? That is bad news indeed. Was anything of value taken?

BTW, someone broke into someone's car at Melville today.  We shoud be more vigilant while on shore and see if we can spot the basstard.

Don't know. Another fellow windsurfer asked me if my car was broken into, and told me about the incident.

Great effort Obelix...lots of PB's.

Break ins at Melville are pretty rare...only heard of one other and that was quite a few years ago. Interesting that a few regular sailors at this location have been known to leave their cars open while sailing. We all need to keep our eyes peeled though...saying that it may just be a one off...however...

I think most of us leave our cars unlocked at Melville.

Sad to hear of "an incident".

I'm sure it wasn't one of the regulars.

And congrats to Obelix on his new speed records.

You'll be past me in no time mate!
