lao shi (41082km): What a great morning! On the water at Wallyworld boat ramp by 6.30 with the wind in nicely. Wind got stronger and the sand bar got flatter. Getting through the chop to Pt Resolution was a challenge even without stinkboats! Started to get overdone in the hairy chop out in the channel so put some weight in the jacket. Hooked in to a screamer and bore away towards the jetty! looked at the gps and saw 35.6 and then it flipped over. That was the 10 sec! Called it quits as the stinkboats started to come out and a heap of crew were rigging. Home in time to make the wife her morning coffee! Can't say enough about this combo holding down a 7m at 78Kg +5 weight in gusts to 30 knots. I love this sail. Sonic 100 continues to amaze. Handles horrible chop and goes quick.
Loft Racing Blade 7m (pictures to come thanks to The Craw), sonic 100, Goldwing 32 (PB for this combo and fastest peak not at Pt Walter, I think)
Pointman (25522km): Pelican Point, WA, AU Awesome Easterly sesh at Peli. Gusts were nudging 30K and I was fully lit to overpowered on my 111 Futura + 7.0TR5 + 36 Goldwing combo. Got my peak speed on this set up in an insane gust that had me gritting my teeth and grinning like a mad bastard at the same time. Changed down to the 6.6 TR7 after the first hour, the 7.0 was pulling my arms out of my sockets!! Breeze backed off some after I changed down, but still some solid gusts and the smaller sail was a lot easier to throw around in the gybes. Stoked with the alpha PB, it's been a long time coming (set the last mark in Nov-09) . After Friday's sesh in SB I knew the F111 was my alpha machine, and she didn't disappoint today. Heaps of fun blasting into the Peli flats and carving some full tilt gybes. Now for a 25! On the water at 7.15, off by 9.45, and it was still cranking when I left. What a day! If our seabreezes were this strong no one would be complaining about our dodgy summer season.
Chris Porter (11725km): Great sail at Peli in a SOLID easterly. Fun times doing some laps with Dan and spied Pointman out the back. All the usual suspects showing up as I was leaving.
Super impressed with how my board performed in the chop today. There was some nice flat water in on the point but due to the low tide and kite clowns I wasn't risking any nice long speed runs.

Windxtasy (13938km): Pelican Point, WA, AU Sonic 85, 5.4 Kult, 32 vector Peli point was parked out when I arrived so I had to park around at the yacht club and start off in the kiters area. Good thing I didn't see you Nebs! I'd have been horrified. Took two trips to Attadale and back. Coming back the second time there were some big holes so I decided to stop. First time I've made the trip so it was fun despite the chop. A good workout, and the first time I have used this sail and felt comfortable with it. Note to self - it needs to be set toward the back of the mast track. 400 mast, 30cm extension, extra outhaul.
Jonah (2414km): Point Walter, WA, AU sailed up from point walter to pelican point and then out to Melville. Felt like i had cracked 35 knots and was pretty humbled to find out it was only 30.6! isonic 86 NP slalom mk2 6.7 |
