Elmo (31700km): JP Slalom VI 65cm + JP Weed 36, JP SS 69cm+JP Weed 36cm & SS42cm, NP RSS Mk IV 7.0 The mission today was distance, the weather today was GAF, a long day on the water grinding away at distance in conditions not realy conducive to the task. There were a lot of pretty serious bullet's out there and a hell of a lot of lulls on either side of them, the 7.0 only occasionally had me wishing for a 6.2, got the knack of gybinmg in the gusts rather than going a bit further. I think I called the location right today as the runs across the bay were very nice, as there wasn't much fetch the chop wasn't big and for a change had a tendency to line up. My day finished up after I'd come into the shallows to do some adjusting cause the wind went stupid, Tail stalled the board, went to get out of the straps only to find they were stuck in, wind caught the board and flipped it over with me still in straps, on the way down managed to re-hook into the harness line, fell into the water face first with the baord still attached, hooked in with the sail and boom laying across my back, as I was face down in the water I had to take some brutal disentagling which siezed up the muscles down the side of my back, sailed back across the bay feeling a bit embarrased and sore, gybe and sailed back which ended up not being a pleasant experience as I had no strength to battle the gusts. Just another in the never ending catalogue of ways to to hurt a muppet. Great session was fun sailing with Decrep, Yoyo and a special guest appearance of Crasher who lobbed up with some new Nudies. Hardz turned up later after demolishing his roller door in his enthusiasm for skiving of work to go sailing. Evets rounded out the mob on the water. Much better than working
Doddi (7589km): Hardies Run, WA, AU 6.6, Nude 110.Fun sesh with a few of the mob. Got new candy wet today. Wind was very patchy.Underpowered most of the day
Decrepit (54840km): wind all over the place, wanting to do distance. Elmo advised small sail on big board, so put the 5.3 on the 65cm with 31 woody weedy. Haven't tried this combo before, but it worked well, enough float to cope with the big lulls and sail small enough to handle the big gusts. after lunch the wind had picked up, and lulls not so bad, so swapped to the 54cm board, initially used the 23cm lockwood, but that was a tad small so plugged the just finished 26cm 35deg. That went well until wind started to get holey again. A long period floating in the water trying to water start did me in, couldn't be bothered putting the big board on again, we were running out of light and I was out of energy.
Bender (23190km): Glory Holes, Australind, WA, AU F2SX XS, RSR 5.0m, 23KA sym Quick sesh after driving to Perth and back. As i rocked up it was seriously windy so i dusted off the 5.0 that i have had for 18mths and only used twice. It was sitting on 25+knts wth savage 35knt bullets. The tide tide was huge so the run had knee high rollers breaking on the shore. As i hit the water it dropped a bit and i got a nice bumpy sail for 30mins before it switched off completely

evets (21500km): Hardies Run, WA, AU fun blast with the crew. Great to be on the water Iso 86 RSSII 5.8 23 slingshot, fun but so gusty it was had to keep going. when the gusts were there it was great but then it would tunr off. I fell off to windward several times, this has not happened regularly for years! Iso 86 RSREII 5.5 26 Elmo weedy unfortunately the wind dropped further so the ocasioanl gust wa fun but lots of holes. not enough of a session to test and consider the sail unfortunately. What I did find was I was repeatedly pulled onto my toes whe hit by gusts with the RSSII but not at all with the RSREII. Unfortunatley I should have rigged my 7.0 and then it would have been ok! |
