Lake Illawarra, NSW, AU

Took Leo's bait and decided to try Lake Illawarra in a westerley. What a bloody baptism of fire. Anywhere between 15 and 40 + knots! A tad too much for this skinny black duck. I did the best with what I had but I banged my knee up on about my second run and it made me sail well within myself. Plus the fact that this place is scary shallow I didn't want to be going home in an ambulance. There was some great sailing going on with pb's happening everywhere but alas I wasn't to be one of them.

Congrats to all who did manage a pb, one Michael Thompson in particular. Great stuff Mike Cool

Now where is that Nurofen........

Typical gusty Sydney westerly. 15-30 knots. Had fun blasting around on the big board. Then tried the speed board for two runs and couldnt get comfortable. Towed Tim in for a bit after he snapped a mast halfway down the runway.

Carbon Art SP50, KA Koncept 5.8 & 5.0, Flying Objects Weed 26

It's amazing what a difference flat water makes!

Thanks Leo for the board and fin

Thanks Keef for the booties

Thanks Larko for the fin (I've left it with Leo)

But mostly thanks to the men and women of the ADF, past and present.

Narrabeen Lake, NSW, AU Westerly on & off.

JP 65 Slalom VI, Talon 36,  NP RS6 7.2

Great to see a few old faces and especially, Seano, Sam Parker, Larko, Chris Cross amongst others. The usually gusty lake crap but hey, who cares?......The sun was shining, the wind was (kind of) blowing and no one was shooting at me!…. Perfect really & a great day to be an Australian. Accept I put a hole in my sail! Yell

Lake Illawarra, NSW, AU

A tale of two spots. made the early drive down south to Primbee meeting Leo, Mike & Rexy. F***** cold and f***** windy. Just to shallow for me & my knee. Tweaked it a bit, like Rexy too worried about smashing myself AGAIN so pulled the pin after a couple of runs. Awesome spot, nice locals but too much for me with knee @ this stage. Cant afford to do it again, struggled getting knee brace over winter wetty. Leo has it dialled.

Back to Sydney, dropped in @ Lake Dangerous. Few of the boys out chasing gusts so joined them. Sam, Ads and I had some fun bear aways upwind under Pipeclay Pt. Typical gusty westerly but it was fun. Stoked with 2 second peak on a 112 ltr board, got a decent gust that kicked me up the clacker so I went with it. Nice arvo sailing with the boys. Love my Evo IV.

Illawarra, Falcon 99, Evo II 6.2, weedy 24. Too big.

Narra, JP 68, Evo IV 7.0, Talon 36. Just right.

More importantly, just watched Anzac Day. So much respect. Lest we forget.

118 supersport / 92 jp slalom. 6.2mk iv , 34 FO fin.

Gotdown to foreshore drive pretty early a nd it was still blowing 15 - 20 WNW so was a really bad angle makeing runs short but flat. good for gybes but couldnt get really wound up .

Later wind swung more to the south and increased with some huge gusts - changed down to 93 slalom but by then was just too tired to push it hard. Still a good solid day of sailing. Slept like a baby when i got home.

Primbee, Lake Illawarra in a howling, gusty westerly and a pretty unsuitable setup - 105l 76cm wide hypersonic, XXL Select Weed Fin, 5.8 Aerotech Charge.  Spent lots of time sitting in the water waiting out the bullets.  Having watched Leo on a few others on much smaller speed gear and fins, sailing flat, knee deep water close to sure, I'm determined to get me some of that action!!

Hey Mickey.... 4 x PB's, fan-bloody-tastic & soooooooo well deserved. Cool

NSW at the top of leaderboard? Wow! Must be pretty quiet wind-wise in the rest of OZ.

Watch out for those sneaky Taswegians - just had a look at the weather maps.

They may get a bit of a blast thru on the weekend. Yell

Leo if you send me the files, I'll have a look at it.

In case the gps didn't write every thing to the card, do a "save to card" that will make an sbp file from the internal data logger. With any luck that should have the whole day on it. send me both the .sbn and .sbp.

Sorry Leo doesn't look good, this is what I get.

5X10, 29.17kts

1hr, 7.04kts

NM, 26.31kts

alpha, 11.44kts

Distance 71.392km

It's a bit confusing at first because the data starts at 2217 Tuesday 24th afternoon and finishes 10 am Wednesday 25th morning. Must be your time diference to GMT.

I'll send you back a gpx file that I've saved from your sbp file. I've removed the earlier sessions from Tuesday 10th off it, think that's got 38kts on it

OK this is ruling: For GPS data to have any meaning must see all track points, therefore need file which shows all data points, GPS displays are meaningless technically without the track data Cry.  Decrepit has already checked, and Daffy willing to have another look, but not hopeful  here;s Daffy;s message {Happy to have a look. Do a 'save all' to card and send me all the files.

AHHHH thanks Keef ya the best mate ! I'm disapointed for sure, more so for the points to the team would of been great!!

I had a ball I know I was going fast cos i lost my eye sight twice going over the chop at that speed with all the ratteling my brain could'nt keep up first time I've been scared in a while ;-))  the 10sec was 41.28 so I'm stoked with that.

decrepit had a look at the files and my data logger for some reason was on 60sec not on 1 sec really strange but them the breaks u live and learn

I will be back for more and i will break 45 in NSW

Hardie thanks for support I will send the files to daffy but I'm sure Micheal did everything he could, theres nothing there.

Karl I'm a mac guy but I do know one person that might be able to help me out, I do think it's not going to turn up anything unfortunately.

I do find it strange that the gps has all my speeds KNM alfa but I cant get them off AHHH how frustraiting !

thanks again to all

Im not sure how data is recorded on these gps's. But if Leos gps was set to 60 sec, is the data recorded and then calculated to show results? Or is it recorded as per settings?? My point being if Leo changed it back to a 1 sec reading would it then get the relevant file and recalculate it upon saving to show the 2 sec times??

If that made any sense whatsoever ill eat my shoe..

Either way boys. Southerly this Sunday. I reckon all the cockroaches hit the water (leave pass or not) to keep us ontop. It's a rare occassion we are up there so lets try and finish it with a KAPOWWWW.
