Melville Beach, WA, AU

Fun arvo

Well powered on a 5.8

Had 1 weird moment running deep into kite beach

Must of been doing around 30 when I hit the back of a wave

Launched and started to rotate Ala back loop style

And ended up landing on my back at 90 deg to the direction of travel

And literally bounced off the water and landed upright heading the right way!

And continued on! Let's see you do that gollito!

Melville after work mission. 7.0m for a change, Mistral 112, and CL38SL2. Got some nice runs on this before hooking a great gust for 2nd fastest run of the day. Surprisingly stable. Decided 40 was possible with smaller fin so plugged in the 29SL1 for some runs and got a 40 on the dial before it backed off. Got a few backup runs on that... Best NM had a gybe.

I watched it from the beach and it looked funny as! Board lent right back and bouncing on the tail and big spray! I thought he was gone and let go and the rig sailed itself for a second but he reappeared like magician!!

yes stroppo,it was a great escape prob some old wave experience coming through there..

Greg the fins for the 95 are an interesting one-i am also trying to find a good general purpose fin,

all of the above have their own benefiets.

Water state is prob the biggest decider-melville can be choppy on the flats (1' rolling chop or less) and outside anywhere from 1-4'.

The ufo 28 is a very 'small' 28 in that it has very little area in the tip,

it def needs to be powered up to work otherwise it goes sideways.

i have had 37's at melville on this one.

the mxr 24 wide 30 (peak speed yesterday) was nice in the flatter water on the bank

but outside in the chop it was hairy as you would expect.

i actually got my peak sailing back to the carpark on this to change to the delta 27.

The delta was prob the safest fin yesterday (this was the one i used for the snidearama trick)

although you could def feel the thin tip flexing and bouncing in the chop.

i suspect the best fin for yesterday would of been a 28 volt carbon (if i had one..)

i have a 26 volt carbon i still need to try, this may be ok in flat water.

i quizzed the slow one yesterday the same question and he said a 28 would be about right.

Snides, I took 15mm of the tip of my 27 delta (the flexi bit) and it's a heap better. Rock solid in chop and good for 39 so far.

Nice one mate Had the same thought as well. Did you take it off intentionally? ;)
