Tibor (18470km): 1 hour GPS Room for improvement! Marmong Point, NSW, AU
adamhatfield (2074km): Very windy and was pretty over boarded, lots of big chop. Should have gone to Marmong, it's more settled there in a Southerly. Valentine, NSW, AU
Bruce Healey (24731km): Marmong Point, NSW, AU GPS 1 hour, strong S-SSE, 7.6, CASL70, 42 fin. Had to rig big as was lightish to start but kicked in & it became fully powered if a bit overpowered at times in the rough water. I followd Byron up the creek, figuring he would know where was best. He may have found my presence a bit intimidating, kept running away, never waited for me at all. Was a good sail. nice to get the board running smoothly through the chop. As well there were Tibor, Mick, Christophe the Belgian, Remy & Sue.
Glenn Rumford (11703km): Marmong Point, NSW, AU
GeoffS (8272km): Marmong Point, NSW, AU Exocet 67 Gaastra GTR 7.0 - Big mistake. Then Gaastra 6.0 - much better. Later tried Sailworks Revo 5.2 - OK but wind had become more gusty so gave up. Good turn out for the GPS racing and just general blasting.
James Farley (12826km): Marmong Point, NSW, AU Exocet Sting 134, Mauisails TR8 8.4, Select 51 - Wind SSE 12-20 kts Brown Dog Lake Macquarie Freerace Series - Round #3 Pretty good turnout for round 3 of the GPS freerace series. Wind was very light at first but then filled in pretty well, so we made the call and sailed our 1 hr between 12:15pm and 1:15pm. Wind was moderate 12-15 kts at the start so I took the 8.4, but after half an hour it was getting overpowered and towards the end it was more 6.6 weather! Had trouble pointing so ended up just running back and forth across the top of the lake. Interesting to see that there wasnt much difference between me and the guys who sailed upwind towards valentine. Good to see everyone and especially Chris Bel29 and Remi up from Sydney. Results will be posted up on Seabreeze tonight once I have processed them all.
Byron Mcilveen (65667km): Marmong Point, NSW, AU 7.6m TR9 Maui RS2 Exocet 90l 31 v max select. Did 1 hr at Marmong GPS brown dog series was great sailing with every one unreal to have chris and Remi my god they are both quick. was 15 to 20 but as soon as we finished it honked in to 25 I packed up and went to Cantong to find it only 18 max??? very flat but no wind did same speed there as i did at marmong 34 knots. looked at bom newcastle still gusting to 30 what tha?? so went home to find lake heaps windier than cantong went out again at Brightwaters near home had around 5 min of good wind before it backed off but still managed 1 sec over 35knts. big day of sailing moral to the story should have stayed at Marmong with that kind of wind would have gone quicker there love speed sailing and flat water but need wind to get any speed. I just never seem to line the elements up lately.
sboardcrazy (25737km): 15-c25kts S - freerace + after Ok. This post is out of order - I wrote the story below before I got my combined file.. When I got my file I was amazed as I had such a negative view of the sail.I'm actually pretty pleased with the figure. Pity I got most of it after the race! It just goes to show how your veiw of a session can be clouded by a crappy mood.. ( + great expectations!)..So I'm happy now... .. still the story is entertaining ( I hope )... 'One of those days when I should have stayed at home and got brownie points.. I was tired from Peel st last night. Set up for the freerace with the 6.6m + 95ltre Rocket but had the 115ltre ready in case as there a few holes. Went out and one run and worried I'd muff a gybe and the big 6.6m luff would fill with water & I'd get stuck out there. I was tired and not sailing real well. Managed to get back in and put the 115 on. Too big for the chop but at least it got going through the lulls and was easier to gybe. Had about 10mins sailing and then the wind seemed to kickin so went in and spent the next 25mins rigging & unrigging. So of the hour I got about 10 mins odd sailing. I only put my GPS card in as James said I could be in the draw for a lucky door prize..I think I should win for offering myself to public humiliation.. Pretty demoralised by now..Went back out with the 6m severne on the 95ltres and it was a downhill slide.. Demoralised , tired and crabby meant I sailed like s..t so had plenty of falls which made me more tired and crabby which meant more falls, etc.. ( I can laugh about it now).. I was determined to b beat the conditions so put the 4.8m on the 78ltre and back out.. Still overpowered + overboarded ( that little thing scares the hellout of me in chop it's so fast..) Decided after one run where I got the gybe I'd quit while I was ahead..Didn't help that B Cluffy was flying around having a ball on his B & J gear! Probably due I suppose - I was pretty chuffed with how I'd been going at Peel st but the chop certainly sorted me out. Got home late and got the chat so I hope tomorrow is better! I used to love chop but then I used to rig for the gusts whereas lately I've been rigging for the lulls so I may have to go back to the old method. Oh I forgot.. I needed help to put the boards on top of the car in the wind so I asked Remi if he could help.. The brain was pretty fried by now and poor Remi got a a board bag flipped in his face by the wind and soon after was whacked in the shins by the board in bag that i was holding as the wind grabbed it. Sorry Remi! I'll understand if you run next time you see me.'
Mick Saunders (12381km): Marmong Point, NSW, AU The one hour sail was a challenge. Rest came frequently as i fell in every gibe. I could have stayed out there for hours. I joke. The SE wind at start was around 18 knts and slowly building. At 45 minutes into the exercise the gusts were 25 kts and time for me to swap the Exocet 90 for the Mistral screamer, my battle ship. Another good day at marmong Pt... Exocet 90 ,l 300 pointer, M' Screamer, 340 pointer. sailworks 6.6
