Montagu, TAS, AU

Early start with Jack and Cookie

My first sail since March, tried a new spot for a Northerly looked promising 30- 40 knots forecast at 10 am  started too light but when the wind arrived the tide was too high and no sand so lots of chop.

Wanted to try out my new 21 Tribal speed fin in the Ca sp40 with KA Koncept 5.0, it hang on really well in the chop just a pity with my lack of match fitness I couldn't.

Just had a look at the Bom observations the forecast was fairly spot no wonder I couldnt hold on.Surprised

Montagu, TAS, AU, Sailed the bank to the north of the boat ramp for a nm. The tide only got to 1 m today, a 0.6 would be better.

Wind direction was North but NW would be just as good, you would just sail the other way.

Good to sail with Jack and Johno.

Dropped in to West inlet on the way home to do a few ks but the wind dropped out, did 22km

Pitt Water, TAS, AU  iSonic 86, OverDrive R5 5.1, Venom 32.

Only second time out since Green Island - but windier and warmer!! Sailed the eastern causeway "chicken-run".  Pretty windy when I got there so rigged the 5.1 and took out the trusty old 86!  Very windy at times, but the 5.1 handles the lulls and the gusts amazingly.  After playing around for a while started to go for a 1hr, but got a catapult after 40 minutes and snapped my mast!  An hour and half of wading, swimming and paddling later, made it back to shore.  All up a great sail and no sign of any sharks!

Think you choose the best time to go out Russ. After the big 40 kt blast went through I lost my nerve with the place. Going back out after I was worried it was going to come in blasting like that again and I don't think I'ld want to be stuck out there in that and blown to Dodges.

Bummer about the catapult Dave, wow your 1 hr would have been amazing tooYell. Great fun trashing your gear from a catapult....not!!!
