Melville Beach, WA, AU

Fun afternoon with a good team turn out.

Got out early when the wind was a bit iffy.

Came in when JJ, Recycle and Anita arrived.

Did some videoing and then went out with a bit more outhaul and a smaller fin.

Nice gybing conditions in places apart from having to avoid the kite hordes.

Did a mile, JJ, unfortunately it has a gybe in it!Embarassed

Wind was light and patchy at 3pm so rigged the 8m - shortly after the wind increased to about 18 knots so was a bit overdone at times.

Mostly on the M137, swapped to the M112 to try it with the 8m at about 6pm - got the peak on that. NM on the 137 (too holey)

Melville, Futura 101, CR 7.0, various fins.  Started off nice and relaxed but planing at every run, then the wind build up.  Tried 3 different fins and all still spin out.  Gybes were tough.  Had fun drag racing a few of the better sailors (lose) and the kiters (win).

Enjoyable sail, 114 Xfire with 34 weedy, then 98 Xfire with 29 CL weedy, 6.6 Koncept

Enjoyed cruising along on the 114 board for most of the time, then the wind picked up and the 98 board felt great. Thought I had cracked 30k but 30.4k was the readout on my Garmin, and GT31 gave 29.5Kk.  Still, that is a PB on my Xfire 98 so pretty pleased.

Congratulations Anita for achieving planing gybes - a milestone well deserved.

Not much wind when I arrived (12-15) but predicted to build, so thought I'd use the standard light wind combo I have been using lately.

Started out really well in 15-18 knots, nice long runs, completing all my gybes, so I thought I'd go for an hour. Didn't drop any turns for the first 40 minutes or so and was really happy, but then the wind dropped to 12-15 and I was also getting tired. Mark stopped me for a bit of a coaching session after I missed a tack, so that slowed me down a bit, but still happy with the hour, my third best, my best on the big board, and my best on the river.

I was very happy with my gybing today - I don't think I fell off any - and even managed some planing ones (yay!). Surprised not to get a PB. Had a couple at 16 knots but they were too wide. After some video coaching from Mark I now know what I need to do. Of course actually doing it is something else entirely. Mark, you will be pleased to know that the best gybe was after you stopped me...

Great team turnout today. Good to see Jeff venturing back on the water after injury.

Well done GS! 2 PB's and a second best hour. As I said, you were looking really good out there today. You've beaten me all round (almost). Not much slower on the alpha either!

Congratulations on an awesome milestone, Mark! First in the GPSTC to 35 000 km! If we had waited another week to have our team dinner we could have presented you with a certificate like we did for your 20 000. I might have to update your badge...

It has been a pleasure to share many of those sessions with you. A great mentor and friend.

Ricey, huge effort there today! Good numbers all round. A third best hour for you too, and a second best distance. Well done! You were passing me with ease.

Great session and great pics. PB'S, milestones and near bests, damn I missed it.  Came in a bit late for me to go as my daughter has been hounding us to go away in the van. Looks like a different place zoomed in. Good stuff

Is 35,000 a major service or just an oil change?

Nice to see everyone out and about, will remember the GPS next time! but I dont think I will be doing any times worth recording for a while, pretty hard to go fast without using the footstraps and a bit nervious about using them until the knee feels "normal", whatever that means.

A most impresive 35K milestone Mark. How far will you have gone by the time you are 70?
