Bruce Healey (24292km): Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU Wow, what a big breeze, NNE, about 20-25 knots. Doesn't uually get that strong from NE at Peelie. Made a mess of it, first with ancient seatrend & 6.6, then CASL & with delta 19 &5.9. Water rougher than usual. i think the surface weed clumps have been blown somewhere else & they used to stop the chop. Still better than most places though. Big turnout today, even Mick Saunders from Grahamstown. Tibor was flying today, doing it easy & Sue was really getting it together with the new board.
Byron Mcilveen (64411km): Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU TR9 6.6 CA44 home made 21 fin also tried 5.5 and 20cm delta was underdone went back to 21 and 6.6m what a day finaly some wind at peely in a NE but was not smooth still very happy when doing over 40. Actualy tried for an alpha was hoping for 28 but hey turning a 44 wide speed board at speed is hard to keep in the 50 still happy with that alpha. Great fun doing some nauticals with Hue and Andy we must have not got it in as I peeked at 39 whilst doing it maybe it included the Jybe.

sboardcrazy (25098km): 20-30kts + NE Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU - 4.8m hucker then 4.2m revo sailworks 79ltre Falcon + 19cm delta Whoa what a buzz! Overpowered to blazes with both sails.Luffing the sail to get upwind and fully powered off the breeze.Pity it was so choppy 6" +chop. No more glass.. Got the 32 on the 2nd run. Really thought I'd break 33 but not to be ..hee hee ( sorry couldn't help it ).. Wind got under the board working up on one run and lifted the front about 1' + off the water.. started to weight the windward rail going upwind after that. Put a chip in my brand new fin ( 2 uses) but not too bad will sand out.Should have used my 68ltre at the end as the FF was too big but wanted to see what the new toy could do.. I can now get upwind in 2 tacks. It used to take me 4 or 5 on the other boards- getting heaps more bearaways! I'd only get one or 2 a sail before.. 3rd time we've had to cancel our sail up the coast- I think if you all want wind we'll just plan to sail offshore - so far 4/4 strong wind warnings- one for every day we've planned.. ).. I really thought the storms would wreck it but I think the wind just built as they approached. Big crowd out - Russ , Tibor , Bruce , Byron , Greg , Andrew, Hugh ( cripes Lake Macquarie crew are taking over! ), Mathew, Mick(?) , Milsy , Pete , Mick rigging as we came in as storm close..+ more
Tibor (18017km): Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU What an afternoon ?...what a N/E??? Really worth going sailing for.A bugggger that with all that wind it was still hard to do good times due to the lack of smooth water. I used 6.7 overdrive with my trusty cut down 58 Sonic. Came in and changed to an ancient Sailworks 5.6. It worked amazingly well but no great result. Still a very enjoyable afternoon with descent wind! Loved getting overpowered!!!
Andrew Haigh (50238km): Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU Falcon 79 and Maui TR9 6.6. Delta 19 then Delta 16. Lots of wind I should have been on a smaller sail. Just couldn't seem to get it all together today. Well done Tibor, Sue and Byron with PBs, and hope everyone has a great Christmas.
rus13b (5109km): Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU 6.2 reflex, 5.7 warp, 98lt f2, 24 weedy. great first sail at peely in a ne, super windy tryed 6.2 bak in after 4 runs, the 5.7 was better. still over powered at times, a bit choppy out in the middle, flat enough were every1 was doing there runs, i stayed out wide cause no delta, didnt hit the bottom or catch much weed & great gybes at the end of the run, they were all to wide to count for alfa's buggar. great day, heaps of people nothing better than a sail like that just b4 xmas, still stoked.

Mick Saunders (12148km): Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU i took the sailworks 6.6 out for 10 seconds. Wind to strong and returned to rig the maui 5.2 switch. perfect. The upwind leg felt great until i ran out of water. The 250 maui weedy was not the answer to water calf deep. Lesson learnt and a long walk back. Thanks to Mick I now have a second weedy a delta 190 and look forward to returning to this great speed heaven |
