Late start this afternoon so all the parking was gone. Pinnaroos everywhere! Up to the top bank where the water was great and silky smooth. I couldn't quite get good speed across the wind as I was spinning out and downwind the gusts didn't do me any favours. However a pretty damn good way to spend a couple of hours especially after spending most of the morning in the Motor Registry Office. Both Paul and Fangy left me for dead in both the speed and ability stakes so I sulked in the shallows where no-one else goes. Ha! Polishing the speed board tonight and a coupla fins for tomorrow.

Huge thanks to Hardz and Decrep who years ago gave us the good word on how to gybe in swell, every gybe out in the middle I was giving thanks as I gybed in front of the waves then surfed out of the gybe.

Once again late start after work, sailing on my Pat Malone, wind appeared to be in but looked to be more froth than whitecaps, but it was quite nice out there, was doing runs out to just shy of the platform Twas a lot of fun.

Well happy to be nicely powered for the hour, Yeahargh

S_Bay, humid patchy breeze..

Looked good first, so was optimistic, when on the water did not took long before it backed off a bit Yell

Had a sail and fins to test, so used the 47 first (fin is great), but was struggling, so came back and bolted the 55, I was never powered but on the 55 was real cruise. Cld not be stuffed changing to 5.8 which have be spot on!

Picked up a Ka 5.4 Koncept (missing a 5.4 in my set), not a bad sail, so lite, stable and effort less I found! Its like using a wave sail with cams Laughing. I still have to fine tune, but firt test is nice, still not sure if it feels so easy because it has no power or because the sail is that good! Undecided. Woudda needed extra 5+knts to test properly. Happy with the buy anyway Wink

Another fantastic fangy day. With a whole pile of people too many to mention

Couldn't resist using my new 5.4 koncept again, even though Fangy's wind guage said 5.8, but it was early and there was reasonable chance of it picking up. Pluged in the 43cm board and Keefs small 17cm 45deg weedy.

This combo feels great, light and effortless, but wind didn't pick up enough to get good speeds. Nice to be well powered though and on the plane 99% of the time.

Tried a NM from the outer bank back to the cars, was a little bumpy but well doable, the inside one was the fastest though.

Fastest speed was right through the middle of the outside bank.

Fangtastic fun day at Fangy's with the cast of Ben Hur again.

Some of you will be aware of my passion for research and  hard evidence to back an opinion. It on this note I wish to offer my thanks to Wazzasinkin. I was investigating the use of helmets and came across a piece of research done by Wazzasinkin in his University days. It appears he was asked to submit a paper on helmet efficacy in order to pass his anatomy examinations. Apparently he had focussed too much on the wrong end of alimentary tract to keep the Dentistry Faculty examiners happy. Rather than put you all through the tedium of another piece of written work from Wazzawankin I will condense the findings.
After testing of various helmets by Wazza himself acting as the crash test dummy Wazza concluded that it is easier to run into walls when there is not a barrel in the way.

So the serious bit.i hit Fangy's just after dawn just to make sure I got a parking spot. My plan was almost thwarted by Pesky Pinna's in the shape of Geoff, but I gave him seriously vague parking instructions. Having secured top spot by the narrowest of margins ahead of Cap'n Calm, I had 15 knots on the gauge and decided to go KONCEPT 6.6 F2 waterlog and 18 speed. But then Cap'n tried to trick me out of my spot by sending me on a frivolous mission back to the Fangy Estate. I saw right through him and stayed put. I hit the soup and had a ball on fresh out of surgery MK IImods F2 waterlog. Tracked beautifully and huge fun gybing, so easy! I then decided to try JJ's Xsmall. I screwed in the 17 Ride and reaped the rewards of its much superior lift compared to that of the 18 speed. There was still not enough wind for the little kit, but I still got the chance to practice gybing. Once again more fun than a barrel of monkeys. A couple of slowish runs inside nailed it home that I was well under done but a comfortable little blast across inside Fangys. All in all it added up to a Top Ten Fangy Day even with all those Pesky Pinnaroos.

Glad the visitors didnt ruin your day Laughing, What a great sail today. The advice to avoid the poles came in handy - didnt try and use it as a turning marker.
