Sailquik (29582km): I was support crew for Mat and Craig today. Decided against going for dustance as I realised the wind would be good for speed in the arvo. Had fun. Two sessions. First seesion had fun and got 42 peaks on 5.4m Koncept. Was happy with that so packed up and went exploring on the trail bike. (the beaches are spectacular) Second session went out on the 5.0m and got 43 peak! Definitly not more wind but it was all about getting the right gust at the right part of the course. Wind quite gusty compared with my past years experience here. Mostly around 25-28 knots but gusting to a bit over 30 knots at times. I am just starting to get a bit more comfortable with Port tack speed runs. Moved my footstraps back on that side. I am looking forward to getting some good Starboard tack conditions to use my small assy fins. CA40, Vector symmetrical 19cm. KA Koncept 2014 5.0m and 2015 5.4m

Peter Johnston (8869km): Area 45, Mahers Landing, VIC, AU Helping out with the Guy Cribb course down at Inverloch and had a nice blast at Area 45 in between duties on the beach. A very uneven up and down ESE wind which swung more East as the afternoon wore on. Powered enough on the 5.8 when it blew then would sail into total dead zones with virtually no wind - amazing contrast. Great to see 15 keen windsurfers soaking up all the lessons from Mr Cribb. Mathew Robertson (8362km): 500 club.
Ado (4489km): Balnarring Beach, VIC. A very bumpy sail in metre high chop and a superb SE seabreeze. 25-30 knots and way overpowered on my 5.8. What a blast.
Great practice for LG I reckon!
kato (37642km):
The mission was to go to Lake George and improve my distance Pb……..but with all these things sometimes things just don’t work out.
The start time was at 12 midnight to satisfy GPSTC rules (Stupid rule) sail through the day and finish at 12 midnight, thus doing two night sessions.
Matt and I had a bit of a rest/sleep until 5pm and then headed to the lake to get ready. For me this meant rigging 4 sails, 2 boards, 1 inflatable boat, 2 buoys with glow sticks and 3 led lights (One for each bank and 1 for the middle). I should have rigged the 5mt as well if I’d know what “George” had planned.
Had another snooze until Daffy woke us up at 11.30…time to go
Light wind so off with the 7.5……opps very light wind…slow jybe and back for the 8.5.
Matt drifted off into the night and disappeared.
Got planning with the large sail and zoomed to the big patch of NO wind in the middle…… Out there sailing under the stars with the birds cackling in the background was one of the best experiences and would have loved to do more but NO wind. As I never use an uphaul I had to use the mast and float back to shore.
A quick meeting and the decision was made to do some more sleeping until the wind woke up.
5am the wind arrived and Matt and I were sailing by 6am, big gear but planning.
I had a plan of doing 40km per hr and by 10am it was very close and the wind was getting stronger. Soon it was 25kt with 30kt peaks and the flattened 8.5 was just too much and I went for the 6.6 and SL53.
I should have changed earlier but I was chasing the average and changing to the 7.5 and swapping booms would have taken too much time. Stupid!
Quickly that sail was too much and onto the 5.8, my favourite sail.
Could not get this combo to work at all, the board wouldn’t settle, the sail was back hand/front hand twitchy, too much down haul /not enough.
I spent the next few hrs just trying to find the sweet spot in the combo and the lake but “George “wasn’t playing nice to me today.
By 3.30pm I was done….. Large holes in both hands, feet and a burn on my arm from an exhaust 2 days earlier all took its toil and I called it quits.
Matt was still going and looking very comfortable on his small gear.
He called it quits a few hrs after but we wouldn’t let him in until he got his Pb and made him complete a few more laps of the lake.
What bastards we are
The Lake was the roughest I’ve every seen with just flat bits at either end and very murky.

A big thanks to Daffy for all his help and well done Matt that was an EPIC session
