Wollumboula Lake, NSW, AUAC1 5.0 vector wsp 21 speed board.Lust so STOKED to get past 35 kts.interesting sail with MT who was flying.Bit of a bummer as had 38.13 on the dial and that would have been fantastic to get in the 38's.ALEX and AKIM  turned up as the winds picked up to another level. Will be good to see what they got especially as AKIM had Keefs Custom Speed Board.Looked as he was really hooking in.Still very happy with the PB.

Sonic50/3.6m XS-1 went with dad and Kye. It was a bit much for Kye so he stayed in the nice warm van. I went out for a bit but a 50 l board was a too big and the fin was too small.Could have swapped boards but didn't really feel like GPS sailing anyway .Kept Kye company in the van eating HOT hot dogs with HOT hot chocolate and watched dad instead.

Keefs Luderitz board/4.6m/KEEF custom weedy Nicely powered when I launched, flew upwind to where MT and Rick were getting their best runs and was instantly at one with the setup even though I had never riden the board before or used a cambered sail in the last year. The board and fin combo were perfect, went upwind like a formula board and slippery as when going off the wind. But by the time I got upwind and in position the wind dropped and spent a lot of time knee deep in water at each end of the lake. The wind changed direction and the smooth spot the others sailed was now all choppy.Found a new smooth area on the other side of the lake which was formed by a long weed bank.It was at a perfect angle, going deep downwind. Only problem was I didn't have enough power to maintain such a deep angle.Kept hanging around there hoping to line up with with a gust from a rain squall. In the end I gave up and went for broke in the choppy water in the middle where there was clean air.

After about 2 hours I thought to myself, wow I havn't even got wet yet. Hmmm then hit a rock, big chunk out of Keefs fin,hit a weedberg at speed and catapulted and then while running downwind over chop (last run as always) did my highest speed crash ever. While flying through the air ,still in the harness had enough time to think ,ouch this one is realy going to hurt. But nothing,no pain ,I was just wet, then looked over to the rig and it was limp looking.Thought i was 1km upwind with a broken mast. It was only a broken mast clamp rope, used the uphaul rope for quick fix and limped home to call it a day.

Lesson- no matter how good you are, always have an uphaul rope. I have never understood those mucho's who don't!

I somewhat don't blame Keefy for sitting out this one today. The old rib injury is up there with the best!!

Ark that was incredible , i passed up on the hot dogs and chochy to watch you hammer out your 2sec PB in the middle of the lake on a 50 lt speed board

and its a shame your alpha wasn't a bit better with some of those laydown's, but understandable the volume was a killer

just for the record 14.76 HR on a board with a 4.6mt sail that was designed for a 500mt flat water run is insane as well as close to a 26 NM AT WOLLUMBULLA is incredible

sorry i had to hang around too pick the board up Ark but honestly  your storage fee's are a bit steep Smile

ARK here's MT's tracks , his 2sec was also in the middle of the lake but was able to get into the flat water with a bit more volume

Akim got a PB as well, far out, congratulations!! Bees dicks aside they are two fantastic PBs at the lake today. I'm worried about the Lake W car parking situation now it will be like primbee on a weekend westerly when I have to park 4 rows back from waters edge. Keef did you get some photos of akim posing with that speed board for your next video? 😄

yes Dezza i knew ark was just under troll, just thought i would keep the adrenalin pumping for a while Laughing

wont have to worry to much about the carpark for a while as there is too much water in the lake for any great speeds , we seen the best of it for a couple of weeks , from here who knows as it isn't very predictable

OMG Akim! Serious, face-melting, trouser-filling, pace there. Sensational 2sec for anybody, but particulalry impressive for someone who doesn't own a cammed sail! But I suspect you could rip on a paddle-pop stick and a hankerchief. I certainly miss sailing with you guys!

Glad to hear no lasting damage from the stack. Well done mate!

Thanks guys

Dez - All the guys I know that went to Lake George have all got higher speeds at WL. As the secret is out I think its going to get very popular. Who would now go all the way to LG when WL is faster, easy to get to,has nice toilets with HW(as apposed to walking through the s--t),friendly desease free accomodation......I think we will have to put a boomgate at the entrance of the carpark of our mobile clubhouse, the flyins can use the guest carpark to the west.

Shane - The NSW south coast is an amazing windsurf area with a huge variety of terrain and fantasic crew at SP and also the guys/girls from the wavesailing association. Sailing in an  eastily with the Canberra crew is something very special that I miss very much.Let me know when ever your over here(even if you can't bring your gear) and we'll organise a reunion. My parents will be happy that I have come to visit themWink

and a special thanks to Keef,my GPS mentor and coach who keeps giving me his gear even though he knows I'm probably going to swim back to shore one day with only half a board.

Went to see Rick today to get some building materials,he's still got that grin on his face .His smile was so big his teeth fell out -literatly EmbarassedHe has to keep them in his pocket when he gets excitedYell
