well was today the best Monday to take a days leave from the office or what!! Far out!! I printed off a holiday form last Wednesday, floated in conversation with the boss that I might need to take a day off to 'do some stuff at home', watched the forecast rest of week, and put the form into the holiday forms in-tray on Friday morning. Best day out, beautiful and sunny at lake illawarra, plenty of water in the lake today. When I arrived around mid morning, Jase and Gav were already there, Jase had hit the water at 7.30am, thats KEEN.
Bit of argy bargy about what size sail, Gav went 6 something, guy on other side of me went 6 something, so I put the 7m back, and rigged the 6.2. Got myself into a new chest zip wettie purchased from Gerringong surfshop in their sale yesterday, 20% off, get yourselves down there. Then I realised I had the thing on the wrong way round, knee pads at back of the legs, talk about embarassing. Gav and Jase either didnt notice or are far too polite to say. Got it off and back on the right way just before Keef and CRAIG COLE arrived, thank god I had the wetsuit on right way round before they got there. Actually it was a bit suspicious they arrived at the same time, I reckon Graig had gone to Subway with Keef to chat to the girls that helped Keef out of his wettie last week.
Great sail on the 6.2m and the 99l for an hour, then the wind picked up, so back to base to rig the 5.6 then out for rest of day on the 79l. Was overpowerd quite a bit on the 5.6, so I dont know how CRAIG COLE held down his 7.8
Got some good OD rigging tips from Nudist, cheers Mark, and thank u v much for the batten extenders, will have some rigging time next weekend to get that sail set up. While we were talking sail rigging, we saw Craig carrying Keefs gear to the water with Keef following. And then Craig handed the gear to Keef to sail off. I didnt realise that Captains got their gear carried to water like that.
I think there's something wrong with my GPS, the times recorded today are far too slow, maybe its too many plastic bags to keep the water out but stopping the GPS signals.
Awesome day out.
