3285 days ago A good sea breeze at last. The best day this season . Used the Decrepit stainless steel leading edge fin with the Exocet board today for the first time . It goes just as well as it does on the narrower Mistral electron.
A good roll up. A great sail.

3285 days ago Fangy's with a big mob, blue skies and in the end a decent seabreeze.
The plumber ensured that I got wet early, unfortunately I was still at the house. Who would have guessed that when you cut the water main, water will come out? Not the plumber.
So by the time I got down I was expecting the breeze to have swung to SW. I hoped I would still have enough time to get a decent session in before the school bus. Capn Calm came in after knocked out quite a lot of furlongs. Feeling mischievious he decided to mess with my head by being indecisive over what to rig. This is not the normal modus operandi for me. I normally ask what to rig and do the the opposite to what every Capn calm suggestes. But today he was all wishy washy. So as a result I spent the first hour standing in the weed with the crabs.
I was about to let rip with a monumental dummy spit when two things happend that changed the course of the day.Stretchy arrived and Lunny left. I suspect also that Elmo had finally left the district. Of course Huey may have also been looking forward to seeing everyone's favourite leper, Wazzalimbless do a few runs and then disintegrate into a sodden log pile of body parts.
Whatever the reason, at long last the wind swung and at last there was a decent seabreeze. Unfortunately just as it seemed to be really settling in and building I had to bail for the school run. I will finish the story and post more later - I have to feed the snotgobblers now
Too short, but good times on the vintage Missy edge,Delta18 Koncept 6.6 Top ten Fangy Day for a few today.

Great late morning and afternoon session. Some parking spaces left at John Street. The Capt'n, Fangy, Pepe, Pas, Stretch, Tim from Melville ( not the legendary Tug) and latterly Hards, Barry and Les Cargot and even more latterly Shane and 'ken ( with his Back To The Future trailer.....very impressive!). Fangy, on seeing me, gave me my new Delta and immediately accused me of killing the wind. Harsh, as he had, in fact, simply rigged the wrong gear. Wazzascapegoat. Wind picked up through the afternoon to a solid 15-20 knots and I had an expedition up to the flat water upper banks where I could gybe, crash and burn in private and had some fun runs back to John Street but was getting seriously overpowered on the 116 litre F2 Vento so, rather than trash my reconstituted carcass again, I bravely returned to base to unleash the Waihau. This board, kindly donated by The Capt'n, has had a nose job that would do Barry Manilow proud and is of a smaller volume. I attached the footstraps and found belatedly, when out on the water, that the front straps would have been perfect for a Hobbitt but the rear ones required something more substantial....say BigFoot? All too difficult as I was getting very tired, being so out of condition and slightly overpowered on the NP 6.4, so I called it a day. I survived.

3285 days ago 1 categories Melville Beach, WA, AU First Post for the Bra Boys !
Was going to sail earlier in the day untill I found out Elmo was delayed. Melville was very gusty but plenty of wind, found it hard to find a good run. I did venture over to near where the big boys where playing but wasn't game to sail the shallows so was a bit further out, scared the crap out of myself because I thought I had run out of water so bailed (big splash and somersalt), it was chest deap der. Sorry guys but the conditions wore me out early so I called it quits. Happy to catch up with an ex cairns windsurfer who's been gone 12 years so had good yack to him.
See you guys tomorrow
CA SL58, 34 Venom, 6.6 KA Koncept and boardies. First sail with the 6.6 and very happy with it.

Great to be at Fangland with some good wind and a good crowd all having fun.
Even better because I was able to abscond from work to do it!
Only low point was my effort to show off by doing a big power gybe in front of Fangy - slid out and landed on my back - that'll teach me...
Top 10 day for me

3285 days ago A few things today, wanted to test the2015 5.8 and 6.6 that Daffy has carted all the way across the Nullabour for me.
Well impressed, Thanks Daffy!
Also wanted to improve our distance, and try and get the fantastic fangy five back ib MM hands
Wind was a bit light when I arrived about 1030 so ideal conditiond to rig the 6.6 plug into the 53 with the 20cm 50deg weedy.
The sail felt great but the fin was giving me problems, especially on starboard tack. about 1130 the wind was picking up, and I was spending a lot of time going sideways. Then I remembered, I'd been working on it's foil and the last paper I used on it was 120grit. So went in for a cuppa, found some 600 wet and dry in my kit. Gave it a good going over and went back out. What a difference! Maybe Fangy's theories about polished fins have got something going for them.
After lunch could decide whether to change down to the 5.8, wind was picking up, but there were still some lulls, so decided I needed to check the high end of the 6.6 so just took it back out. an hour or so later this proved the wrong descision, so changed to the 5.8 plugged into the 48cm board with 18cm starboard assy. This gave me another 2kts fairly quickly. Wind continued to increase, and my arms started to complain about all this top end testing as there's more wind forecast, I decided to save a bit for tomorrow, and came in.
But pleased with the session, I thiink that's my best alpha this year, surprised me really as the new 5.8 doesn't rotate quite as well as the old one, maybe a bit of extra speed makes up for that.
I make that a FFF score of 278.39
Looks like I covered most of Fangys doing it.

After having been very sick for the last five days, today was my first day back at work and still feeling rough. Made the torture worse, I could see the wind howling across the Swan from the view out the window. So when Ru said she could collect the boys from school today, would I like to go for a sail, I jumped at the chance. When I got down to fangys the last few mobbers where packing up, captain and Fin after their epic distance, Sammy and Wazzagoneforages. I didn't really pause to chat though and rushed to hit the water at 6:05, after leaving my desk in the city at 4:05.
SMS was still out racking up the K's, representing for the CST and it was great to have someone to share such an awesome evening sail with. I took my smaller Manta out for it's first ride in a sea breeze. I was properly powered the whole time, with no worries about sinking or not planing. Although I was still not well enough to sail more than about ten minutes without a rest it was awesome to just be flying around without worrying about not having enough wind. Topped off with a beautiful WA Sunset and moon rise. What more could you ask for? Shane and I squeezed in a last run which took us just past 7 PM.
Stoked!
