Hardie (35888km): One of those days where lots of wrong choices were made. First wrong choice, sailing at Novara, hoping Alphaland would fire. Wrong!! Choppy as hell, away from the shore, and so shallow and weedy couldnt get into alphaland with my 2nd bad choice my fave fin the pepweed 23/48. Sailed back, and changed to my Delta 20 /55 Slalom, and it worked a treat, did a lot of 25 kt alphas. Back on my alpha machine Manta 54, TR9 6.3m, and Delata 20 Slalom. Sorry for the bad choice Sammy, and bad luck about your DARLING EDit: Update on Novara and Alphaland. I'm afraid Novara is not what it used to be, most of the seagrass near shore has died, leaving waters very choppy, when very windy unsailable for someone of my level. Alphaland has had some seagrass growth but at lowish tides it is either breaching the surface or just under. With a 23 cm deep fin and 48 degree rake, I couldn't sail through without plaughing and being slow to a complete stop. So a Delta is required, and you just don;t go as fast, was close to 26kt aplha conditions, but the weed just slows you down.
Sammy the snail (29353km): Hardie.. what the fkd session I had + brocked another panel on my sail nd 2 nasty crash .. the only highlite is I got to test briefly one of those ultra delta 19 (txs Joe), was surprisely good.. for my combo anyway. session done on my fin.. for the rest, what ever Joe says good nbs el Capo Misty47, RS extra hole 5.8, custom weedy 21 hopefully no more breacking for the rest of the ..
fangy (22710km): Epic day at Fangys. Got to get snotgobblers organised for school so will post more later. For a laugh see if you can figure out where my uni joint disintegrated Second take a guess on how many times I got bitten by crabs on the walk back in.
So I got down to Fangy's when Wazzastillinonepiece sent through the call that the cleaning ladies were sick of his Benny Hill impersonations and chucked him out of the home ...again. Tide was a bit lower, lots of glass and a breeze starting to build. You beauty, time to catch up on what I missed yesterday. The 1993 Vintage Missy broke cover with an 18 Delta nailed in the hole and Koncept 6.6 run up the pole. And the poetry didn't stop there. The whole day was poetry, it just went from good to great to tragedy to bloody funny. Now obviously the good bits were all about me, namely getting a 22 year old board past 35 knots. The great bits were Captain Calm just dialling it out like he has done some many times before and Wazzabewildered time and again getting himself confused by turning through 180 degrees with no catapult of any of his anatomy. The tragedy was my final two runs.In the first I had just gone pass Paz's posts when I spun out at speed making a decent dent in the estuary. I went back around to have another crack and this time I had the power well down when my uni joint filed for divorce. This time I made a fine effort of denting the place. I also got a really good indication of what a colonic enema might feel like. Good thing my sphincters are tighter that my wallet I say. Captain Calm and Wazzawahoo both dropped by to complain about the pothole I had made ( and to check I was speaking coherently - well as close to it as I get) and with that I was banished to the long walk home. The irony did not escape me that even when the Muppetman provides enough breeze, he still conjures up ways to make me walk home through the crabs. The funny was just spread through day, with the size helpings that make you grin as you type. I mean between Wazza, Firie,Capn Calm and me, well Benny Hill was an amateur. Top Ten Fangy Day in spades. Video of the old girl on one of the runs to follow soon

WazzaYotty (2200km): Coodanup, WA, AU Fun day. Just Fangy present on the foreshore at lunchtime, staff car hogging the premier parking spot. Apparently The Capt'n was finishing the last of Dot's Super Cake ( as recommended as standard tucker for Russian athletes) and would be down later. Tide was lower than yesterday and the weedbanks looked flatter. Met Terry from NZ and Hardpole, both of whom were Deltaless. I gave them a postcard of GrumpyNutz Rock as orientation and I was off. Wind was looking good and building so went with the F2 Vento and North Idol 5.3....the thinking being if too lumpy for the 116 litres of the F2 I'd need to change board only.....down to the Waihau X ....where "x" is the unknown volume. Pas had helped me sort out the footstraps the night before so that relatively normal feet fitted inside. Started off great on the bigger board but was the width was starting to make things as bumpy as a teenager's chin downwind so rather than implode I changed boards....as the wind picked up a bit more. Had a great time...got buzzed by Fangy who came at me out of the sun and we had a great drag which Fangy won courtesy of his lemon chiffon sunshirt with ruffles. That ended when I lured him up into the shallows as I had a smaller Delta. Not long after that he vaporised into droplets, as previously described by The Capt'n. Ventured up to the top with Rod and hissed over the smooth and a 2nm run back downwind....several times. My fitness dictated an early shower was needed but it was an awesome sail. WooHoo! Good to see heaps of others amongst whom were FirieBob, Stroppo. Shane, 'ken and others who I apologise for missing.
Decrepit (54936km): Another fantastic Fangy day! Heavy white caps appeared here at lunch time, Fangy texted to say plenty of white caps out the back there and smooth inside. I was still feeling abit sore from yesterday, but decided good wind and water wasn't to be missed. When I got to John St had average of 18 and max of 24kts, nit wanting to stretch my arms any more went with the 5.4 koncept on the 48cm board and 18cm 50deg assy weedy. Instant Fun! and it kept getting better as the wind slowly lifted. Only dissapointment now is my alpha, the phone had a 25.3, that would have been in my top 5, but I have to be content with a #2 NM. Pity I couldn't convince Firie to borrow a short 50deg fin, he banished himself to the outer chop. Saw Fangy make a huge hole in the water as his uni gave way. Then I also had a big off getting caught by a gust coming out of a gybe and hooked back in before I had my back foot in the strap. Was feeling a bit like quitting then, but just had to try for a NM, when I saw the 33 on the phone, that was enough.
And here's the gpsvisualizer view. Ken, the 37 is peak speed on the GW52, it's normally almost a knot more than the 2s. Interesting where all my best speeds are, I thought the best wind is normally closer to the Island?
Firiebob (18005km): Coodanup, WA, AU, couldn't upload to KA72 before but it was operator error, I'll blame dementure My wife does say I'm stuborn Got a couple of offers to borrow a suitable Frangaland fin but declined, stupid stupid stupid I knew it wouldn't be perfect but thought my speed thing fin would be ok, if not just play a litttle wider. The fin was hopless, couldn't get going in the shallows and when I did it was very draggy, further out in the chop I was getting megga spin out so called it quits. Called into Ross's on way home and bought a new fin, when in Rome do as the Romans do The good news for the other teams is I think I have dregged all the weed up now so there goes all the Frangaland flate water. BS aside I got done good by better sailors today, running out of excusses so will have to lift my game. Watching some of the sailors screaming down through the flat stuff looked awesome, some impressive speeds guys. CA SL58, a 27 speed thing fin, 6.6 Koncept, boardies and a 100 crab bites.
Oaf (7463km):
Coodanup, WA,AU Another mad dash after work to get a short sail. Some of the team still packing up when I arrived, maybe some others, didn't stop to chat. The captain barked some daunting/inspiring numbers at me. Maybe he said a 37 nautical mile, or maybe 2 sec. Either seemed equally unlikely for me to equal but I set out to give it my best go. I spent most the time disappointed not to see my peak speed go above yesterday. Had 33.25 yesterday and a very stubborn 33.08 today. Turns out my numbers weren't too bad though with a PB NM and my second best hour speed. Still, nothing good enough to help the team out. Must try harder. On my Jack Jones for the whole session and I don't count the guy of a string surfing persuasion who was down the other end or the wokkers or the respectable gentlemen setting up their Wednesday evening trip nets. Off the water after 7PM again. What an awesome end to the day. Great moon rise again, nearly full today. Manta 86, GPS6.6
