Another lovely day in Duxbury Bay. Wind was much steadier than the last 2 days, but a bit lighter (23 mph averages, gusting to 26). ENE direction was perfect for 3 mile "whole bay" runs, so I just had to give the hour a shot. Quite happy with the result - more than a knot faster than before. Nina kept working on Flakas, doing long runs with 5 tries on a single run, and another close call. Chris looked wicked fast, I bet he beat my top speed today by at least a couple of knots. XFire 90, TR7 7.0, BP WS 34. Switched to the BP type S 35 for a few runs at the end. That was fun and made it easier to point high and get to the really flat water on the far side, but the wind there was a bit to gusty and light for top speed; actual speeds were higher on the weed fin. Another great day, and there is plenty more in the forecast :-).

Forecast was looking very promising but it didn't pan out. Spent afternoon chasing gusts, mostly slogging around.

Congrats to the PB, Chris. Although I must say I find it even more impressive that you were more than 3 knots faster than I was on practically the same sail, considering that I never felt fully powered, and you outweigh me by a few pounds. I thought my sail did not look quite right when I rigged it, but it felt fine on the water. I'll have to have you check it next time!

Dennis, how could you do that speed on 135Lx82cm. board? Impressed!

Al, I saw him rub some bacon on his board to make it more slippery. Secret is out now Wink

Al, to be honest it's probably all you can get from that board, may be 37-38 kts in perfect conditions and it's much easier to find better conditions for this set up than for smaller board and sail, at least in our area. And it feels, on 135l board I can really feel that it the limit for this board no matter how hard you try. I'm 6'2" and maybe a bit over 200lbs and I'm comfortable with that board on the plain but almost never could get through the jibe without stopping even on the perfectly flat water.
