Koncept 6.2, JP Slalom + Fangy Fin Decrep Mod, Sonic 56W + Tribal SW 23

Managed to get out of work early to join Shane & Steve for a Sunday sail. Started with the JP which was a mistake, should have gone with the Sonic straight up. First attempt at an hour resulted in a lovely smackdown in a gybe, one of those what happened there moments. Board change & then had a couple of cracks at Norty's which was good fun.

Later in the day most of the Kiters had finished so had another go at the hour, this time I wished I was back on the big board as the wind had got a bit up & down Yell Pretty happy with the result considering there was no NM at the start & I spent a bit of time on the grovel.

Way more fun than working Cool

Forecast was for wind to build to 20knots  but was only 16 at 1pm. Rather than rig for the forecast and get caught out yet again I rigged for the actual wind. Discussed options with Morts and we decided on alphas and hour and maybe a naughty. Wind got stronger and I knew I was in trouble ten minutes into the hour. Stopped after 30 minutes, left arm tired and left foot cramping. Pity as it was a great 30 minutes, 26+. Oh well save it for another day.

Fin outstanding, sail great but a little too much for me for the hour.

2nd alpha today was a PB, it felt good. Only last night I wrote on SB that I think I can do a 26 step gybe, got closer today.

Top 5 NM and a pb alpha. Great session. 8 top 5s so far this year and 2 pbs in 2017. Great year so far.Smile

Great to be on the water with Jeremy, Shane and Cliff. 8 kites out meant that even if I had hung on or had the 6.3 up gybing at the south end was congested and may have been a problem for a great hour.

Thanks Jeremy, yet again my top alpha was right at the start of my session. Not sure if I get tired, over analyse what I am doing or why this keeps happening. Still, not complaining :-)

Great stuff guys, congrats evets on PB alpha. I'm off to check it now.

Fantastic Steve, this is what happens when you wear the GPS on your head, absolutely no doubt about the result, a perfectly clean track, doppler and trackpoints perfectly co-inciding, and an SDoP evenvelope so small it's barely visible.

evets pb alpha

GPSResults gives 25.558, max speed 30.343, min speed 16.037, distance 499.6.

And look at the separation, so close to 50m it's a bit of a worry, only had to go 2m wider and it would have been invalid.

Have you installed alpha markers Steve?

Many thanks Mike. No markers, just fortunate judgement. I said to Jeremy I had at least one good one, but it could be a 22 or a 27 and who knows about proximity.Happy with the pb. I am looking forward to more sessions like today, but with my 6.3. The 7.0 is a bit cumbersome in the gybe but does give grunt for the legs. I may do better heading up wind a bit just before the turn to give me some more leeway.

I think the 7.0 tends to result in a larger radius and therefore a bit of upwind in the return leg. With my 24 fin and 6.3 I think I can turn tighter.

The trouble with joining any of these clubs, such as the 25 kt 26 kt or 27kt alpha club, is as Groucho Marx once said "I wouldn't want to be a member of any club that would have me as a member"Embarassed Its always wanting to be a member of a club your not qualified to be a member of that is the challengeSurprised
