Lilacs, WA, AU Mistral 91 Pepe weed 27 TR16 7.0

Rigged this as the wind was not performing as forecast. Was enough for a while then it was too much. Mile on this combo.

JP45SP TR17 6.3 MXR 20 weedy Had fun chasing 2 sec figures. Was too choppy until about 6 pm when it flatttened off for 10 minutes and I hit my top 2 sec. Had several runs across the wind, felt enormously fast: 30-32 kts.

Maybe tomorrow morning will be windy.

6.2 Koncept Sonic 56w + Fangy Fin Decreo Mod, CA44 + Tribal SW23

Quite a crew down here CST, Pinnas & Mobbers. It was great to met Boz & Firie, there was a few others I didn't get the chance to say hi to, maybe tomorrow.

Bit of a sail inbetween nightshifts. Wasn't that strong when I arrived so went with the standard rig & thought I'd see how the Fangy Fin went on a smaller board. Was very good when the wind was more moderate, could point higher than normal & felt secure in the choppy (for here) conditions. When I was doing the NM runs it did feel a bit draggy but still I got a 34kn 2sec out of it so it's not slow, more a case of outright max speed is not part of the design brief. Do want one! Smile

Wind started to boot up & went in to consider changing gear, ummed & ahhh'd before going with a bit more downhaul & outhaul & the CA44. Had difficulty keeping the nose down at times & caught a rail on a bearaway & went flying before making a nice dent in the water. Wind then went back to the NE & switched off Frown

Called it a day & de-rigged as I had to get to work, where it hasn't stopped raining since I started. Think I've tweaked a rib again but don't think it was in the crash.

Albany, WA, AU

Finially got down to Albany, nice little adventure to sail somewhere different with a mob of windsurfers and great to meet new happy faces. Stayed at Lilac's and have to say very nice, posh even.

Well I'm not the brain surgen I thought I was, most were rigging small but not I, I thought my 6.6 with lots of downhaul and lots neg outhaul would be the go. It was very windy and fairly choppy, I just couldn't get my act together, sail felt like crap, way over downhauled. I was being passed by pensioners, lovely ladies and even someone on a board I think Noah built as a backup all those years ago. My ego was completely shot when I realised Evets was using a 7M and was flying, bastard. Eventually I gave it away, just too much work for me. Today was the first time ever in over 20 years sailing I used a wetsuit. There were bets taken if I would and I was tempted not to, just to show how completely stupid I can be. So happy I did, it was blowing a gale, overcast, drizzling and bloody cold.

For some reason my one file out of my watch turned into two files in KA72, best speeds in one file and I just added the distance together.

SA SL87, 27 Tribal WS, 6.6 Koncept and a rubber.

Firie you had a short arm short leg wetsuit on because it was cold :-)  I think Mandurah may challenge you in the winter and definitely stay away from Albany Embarassed

An as for the 7.0 when you had a 6m, I tiold you I am 110kg and can therefore hold down big sails Innocent. That was the sail I did the NM on Cool  but I did have to change down to a 6.3 when it picked up.

Great to catch up with the Albany Mobsters, such a great location massive potential in the right conditions, Was a lot of fun on both days. Pushed the plastic fantastic Tiga but I think the limits have been found, looking forward to bringing the good gear down and really giving it a crack for the NM, thanks for all the tips guys well worth the drive from Perth. I think you'll being seeing more of us down when the conditions are right.
